I was in a caravan in Whitby enduring one of the worst thunderstorms I've ever seen when we signed Carrick. I was also enduring a friend repeatedly telling me he wasn't worth the money, a fact I reminded him of when we won the league.

10 years since we signed Carrick, today. Still our best midfielder too. And people still abuse him....shame. He's due a testamonial now isn't he? I think when we first signed him he suffered from an affliction that's affected many a midfielder down the years, in that he wasn't Roy Keane. Some people still haven't gotten over that. |

You are taking away Pogba's best and unique attributes by asking him to dictate play from the deep. What we need is a controlling midfielder which the two you mentioned are not. |

I do agree that Fosu Mensah is more of a CDM but Pogba isn't one and neither is Carrick. I see them both as pure number 8 and somehow similar. Pogba with a much higher ceiling and a more dominant presence in midfield than Carrick but I think he can easily provide assists and dictate play, like Carrick does. That's how I see them anyway... |
