Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has added former Manchester United youth coach Mark Dempsey to his coaching staff. Dempsey flanked Solskjaer during his eight-month spell as Cardiff manager in 2014 and briefly assisted him at Molde last year. Dempsey had a brief spell as manager of Norwegian club Start last season and took over at Kongsvinger in June, but only lasted five months and moved back to England in November. Dempsey was highly thought of by former academy head Brian McClair, as well as Ferguson, during his time at United. "Les Kershaw assembled a fantastic staff who work extremely well together," McClair said in 2006. "They believe totally in the philosophies of the club and what we are trying to achieve in the Academy. "We have lost Rene Meulensteen to Brondby, where he has become their manager, but he left a very nice legacy. He tutored Mark Dempsey and Eamonn Malvey so they can continue the system." Mancunian Dempsey, 54, began his professional career at United and played twice for the club under Ron Atkinson in the 80s. He took on a development coaching role at the club after his playing career ended. In 2008, Ferguson commented: "Les was followed by people like Jim Ryan, Brian McClair - who's now academy director - Dave Bushell, Mark Dempsey, Tony Whelan, Paul McGuinness. "These guys have been here for over 15 years, so when I go I would presume all these lads would still be in place and working hard for United." www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-utd-solskjaer-coaching-staff-15605611.amp?__twitter_impression=trueSaw this and hoped it wasn’t jobs for the boys. What does he add to the coaching staff? You know what? Fuck it. The more United men we can get in the better. Sick of random managers' teacher's pets getting jobs at our club.

In that case better to get Rene in... The idea that they are just hiring their mates is silly. These are people who were at the club back when we were good. We had a brain drain after Ferguson. Don't care if these are their mates, if they can do the job then get them in.

Well apparently he was highly rated as a coach here. We have a number of highly regarded coaches so what does he add? You want me to answer that? You are being deliberately obtuse. I don't really know what anyone of the backroom staff really did and neither do you.

I expect it happens in every industry! We didn't have a brain drain after Fergie. 1. He was a manager and DOF rolled into one. 2. The academy ended up in the doldrums because they stopped spending money and City amongst others caught up! 3. 3 managers in a short space of time has probably left us with a mismatch of philosophies/ideas/forward planning. He might be a good appointment but just because he is a United man shouldn't mean the question shouldn't be asked!

I'm not really sure what the problem is we have been shite for years, ole has come in and in 2 games lifted the spirit of the club, yet people still find things to moan at.also not sure why you wouldn't want a highly regarded coach who knows the club and how the players should play, how is that a bad thing.

His job is to lift morale after a highly toxic situation but it doesn't mean some things are off limits and can't be questioned!

Why would him bringing in a coach who knows the club inside out worked with him before even be a issue tho? It's not like he's just asked 1 of his mates from the pub to come and coach

Jeez I just asked a question. It seems we have a good number of coaches for the first team and I was just wondering what is not being covered now that would be by another coach arriving. It was more about what is his specialty, like is he an attacking coach, defensive or whatever.
I love what Ole has brought and long for more of it so if this guy will improve us I am all for it.
I only wondered what he added to the team.

By the way and apropos of nothing I read that Ole is going to work with Marcus on his finishing.
That is the best news I have heard in a while.
