Fun fact, Tony V is only 3 months younger than our captain.
The difference in fitness and physical states says it all

And they work a lot harder. Rooney drinks and smokes while Giggs does yoga.

I was reading the Summer 2015 thread and it is fun to see Valencia proved many of us wrong. I'm glad he did.

Why does this mans thread only have 10 pages?
Increase the count for our Player of the Year.
Yeah, I'm going for him. Zlat has banged goals in but had a good few off days as well and missed any number of sitters. I can't recall a poor performance from Tony this season, he's been consistently immense up and down that right side.

Some of the players we wanted out have really stood up to be counted this season, fair play to them.
Valencia is one, I'll admit to wanting to see him sold. He played right wing and he would either slow everything down and pass 5 yards sideways, or just toe punt it straight to the 1st defender if trying to cross.
Young is another who has really impressed me over the last couple of years, never let us down when called upon.
Rojo too has improved immeasurably at centre back. Should pick up more red cards than he has, but he's gotten away with them. If he could ease up on the stupid fouls then he'd actually be a really decent centre back.

A great season by Tony so far, as a defender he's powerful and determined, hard to get past, and strong in the tackle, consistent.
Sorry but he's not a wing back though, he rarely gets past defenders and delivers a good across now and he`s easy to set up against because he`s so one footed.
A few more with his will to win wouldn't go amiss.

I've always liked and defended Tony, says I with a self-righteous grin!

Always liked Tony because first and foremost he always gives absolutely everything on the pitch. I do think if he hadn't broke his ankle in his 2nd season he could've been a world class winger for us as he was superb in his first season but he took a bit of time to get over that IMO.
He's probably in the form of his career right now though at right back. He's a superb role model for any young player. He's quiet, modest and works solely for the team.
Warrior is a pretty apt way to describe him.

Wut? That vid just shows a lot of good defending, not many goals come from the crosses that he manages to get over.

until this season i`ve never really paid attention to valencia`s first touch. started doing it in summer and his first touch is as good as mata`s. and i dont think there is anyone in this squad with a better first touch than mata and valencia. i`d love to see valencia against zlatan, the guy is a freaking bull. valencia and herrera for me are clearly our most consistent and best players this season, no doubt about that. both deserve the captains arm band.
i also critisized his crosses a lot, until about december or january when a statistic got released that he actually is the best crosser in the premier league.
