Was I the only one looking for the 'Cesc's public declaration' announcement this week?
Or was that 'within 48 hours or his return from holidays' jive just a missprint?

Premier League - Martino: Fabregas can join United if he wants
New Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino is confident Cesc Fabregas will not swap the Nou Camp for Old Trafford but admits the Spain international will decide his own future.
The Liga champions have already rejected bids of £25million and £30million from Manchester United and Martino believes the former Arsenal midfielder will continue to fend off their advances to stay at Barca.
"I would prefer him to stay with us and I dare say he will, but it's his decision," Martino said.
"He is one of the best players in the squad. I think he will stay. But there's a part that he has to decide.
"Cesc will decide the situation, but it has not occurred to me that I won't be able to count on him."
Fabregas was on the bench for Friday's 8-0 thrashing of Brazilian side Santos at the Nou Camp but came on in the second half alongside new signing Neymar to score twice and set up Jean Marie Dongou for the final goal.
Lionel Messi, Pedro, Alexis Sanchez and Adriano also scored for the Spanish side, along with an own goal by Santos defender Leo.

Hasn't the long-running line been that Fabregas would only leave if Barca would let him and Barca would only let him leave if he said he wanted to?
Surely saying,
'Hey, Cesc, it's entirely up to you!' is the exact same as that?
On the other hand, you could argue that by Barca coming out and making a statement like that, they're effectively giving Fabregas the out to say he wants to leave.

This transfer just won't happen in my opinion. His transfer to barcelona took 3 years pretty much, i don't see him giving that up after two years. Xavi is 33 now and he's not a 50 game a season player anymore, as great as he's been fabregas is clearly his successor. Id be very surprised if we sign cesc, im happy we are in the market for a player of his kind because we need one so badly but there are other good targets out there we have a chance of signing. This transfer won't happen because theres no desire from the player to leave, he's pretty much using it to strengthen his position at barcelona. We have more chance of signing Modric than cesc.

Yeah that pretty much is the first signal that this saga will descend into lunacy. Schweinsteiger as a backup. The arrogance.

Yeah that pretty much is the first signal that this saga will descend into lunacy. Schweinsteiger as a backup. The arrogance. A lot of people have said all along that Cesc is a blanket for someone else, they could be right. Time will tell... All I think I know is, that I don't think I will be seeing a new midfield player come kick off at Wembley in a weeks time

WE'd most likely sign of Zlatan before we get a Midfielder going by reports. Thinking most reports are based on what random placard a 3 yr old picks and stories spun of from that. Schwini a backup options ohhh the nerve..

anybody else think that we dint have the pulling power like we used to, seems that these big players dint seem to jump at the chance to sign no more, to be fair we ain't going to sing fabregas and i think we all no that, ronaldo will not happen as we simply cannot afford the transfer and wages, I'm not saying we should go throw money about like city on random Brazilians, the thing that is realy annoying me and i dnt no who to blame is that we seem to be wasting are time on players we have no chance of getting, there is plenty out there who i believe we could get, with the likes of modric, ozil,de rossi who seem to be available and we would have a real chance of signing

Well you see, the only official word of signing a player is on Cesc, everything else is just news reports. So officially we have only tried to sign Cesc and still trying. Everything else you read is just something to read. You are right in what you say but we have no idea if we are trying to sign any of the those players. If they are available United will know about it, at the very least those players agents will be informing every club they can of the fact they are available. Again they are available according to reports!
As long as we get a quality midfielder in I will be happy, if not then its hold on to your seats as we will be in for a bumpy ride this season.
