Americans should never do commentaries for docs on English history JUST DON'T!! Just because you said that, I am calling Ken Burns and making him do a documentary on the Queen. He will show you. What did you watch that caught your ire? Generally speaking, I agree. Most of the best documentarians do projects that effect them or they have a personal connection with. I.e. The best director of a film involving street crime in Detroit, probably should have a relationship of some kind with the city itself. If I tried to make a documentary on astrophysics, it would be unwatchable because a) I have no previous knowledge of the subject b) I don't really give a shit.

It was a History Channel doc on The Dark Ages/Black Death - America wasn't even invented to fuck up the English language then It just doesn't feel right IMO - plenty of out of work Brit actors could have done the narration

Surprised you could find something history related in between all the Ancient Aliens, rednecks with stupid cars, and more red necks digging through old worthless shit at flea markets. Next thing you are going to tell me is you learned something while watching The Learning Channel.

He is on that site which by the way is pretty decent, loads of subjects are covered but the ones I've watched are linked to YouTube. Sea of truth is pretty scary viewing. All about the state of our oceans.

Recently watched "Black Fish" which was a in depth look at Seaworld and their practises worldwide, very eye opening and some of the videos of killer whale attacks were haunting.

Heres a few i've watched recently. I'm not a fan of the conspiracy ones because the majority of them are pure bollocks.
Collapse - The one with Michael Ruppert. If you want to understand why capitalism is so daft watch that.
To Trinity and Beyond, The Atomic Bomb movie. - William Shatnar narrates it, gives you an idea of the paranoia of living through that period of the cold war and its consequences.
Andrew Marr's History of the World
The trial of Henry Kissenger

Ken Burns is outstanding, I've actually had a chance to meet him a couple times, he and my cousin are old friends. Just finished watching docu on the Roosevelt family, was fascinating, and made me wonder what in the hell happened to this country that used to produce people of that caliber.

He was roommates in college with one of my closest friends dad. Haven't met him, but would be honored to. His series on the National Parks is one of my favorite docs ever. Love me some John Muir. Really want to see the Roosevelt's, Teddy was an amazing person and factors into the above mentioned documentary as well.
