Ken Burns is outstanding, I've actually had a chance to meet him a couple times, he and my cousin are old friends.
Just finished watching docu on the Roosevelt family, was fascinating, and made me wonder what in the hell happened to this country that used to produce people of that caliber.
My favorite meet happened in Hawaii. Was a group of us that were fanatics about the Muppet Show, actually took time off to see it if we were on the watch bill to work. When we heard that
they were going to come to Hawaii to film movie about Big Bird, we wrote a "group letter" and sent it off, and we actually got invited to sit an have lunch with Jim Hensen. 2 of the most memorable
hours I've ever spent.
The docu about the Roosevelts is an amazing piece of work, a big portion of the docu is about Teddy, I love History and had no idea of some of the things that Teddy accomplished. Forget Hemmingway,
Teddy was a "Mans Man" but not just that he was one hell of a savvy politician.
Franklin, IMO perhaps the greatest leader US has ever produced, and incredibly brilliant man, courageous doesn't go to describe what he accomplished in spite of polio, and empathetic to the
people he was leading.
An the last part which was on Eleanor was also brilliant. She was an amazing woman. When done the main thought that the Wife and I both had was how lucky the US was to have had those people
step up in that time in our history.
