Long may it continue indeed, good read mate, as you say it's just the first step of many but my god what a step and right on the bollocks of all those clowns who wrote us off before a ball had been kicked, roll on Charlton

another incredible read babe. This is what I'm talking about. The naysayers finished with a quiet Sunday today.. and the fans can go to sleep with a smile. The boys come through, again. Thanks for a great starter Scott.. this Red will sleep easy tonight.

Well said Scott. I showed up at the pub about 15 mins late (NYC subways can be a pain sometimes) and when I looked at the screen I was elated. I was talking to a few of the supporters who updated me on the earlier events and I told them that United would need to score a few more for me to see and so it was. We sang throughout the match and it ended up being the perfect start to a great day (my girlfriend and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary today). We gave the Chelsea and citeh fans some stick as they walked in for the next match. On the way to the subway I saw some other supporters on the street and there was a thumbs up to each other because it was the perfect start to the season, one which has been filled with reports of United not being able to do with out Ruud etc. With the other contenders to the title starting off to modest opening matches we saw today why we all know United can win it this year.

I had posted on one of the threads that I want to hear what the pundits have to say about us now since they predicted such a bleak season for us before a ball was kicked. There's no way we can rest on our laurels with only the first four games played, but I for one am glad we passed our first test because it dispelled the notion that we might repeat last year's inconsistency. While the match against Spurs wasn't our best show it was still a good result and one which we saw Evra continue to improve, not to mention Giggsy getting the ball in the back of the net, Brown doing well at the back and VDS making some good saves. Consistency is the key this season and so far we're getting it done better than the other clubs predicted to surpass us in the league, while there's a long way to go we're earning the points that will help us come out on top.

Nice read mate. We can't get excited yet because tougher challenges lie ahead but it's looking good so far.

I agree with what you said but I also think that bit of luck I said we're going to need this season showed itself against spurs as they could easily have taken one of their chances, especially the Mido one, but this happened to be the 1 in 10 time that he actually missed. We didn't look nervous or like we where struggling but it was quite worrying how often they troubled us with balls into the box.
So far the decision to only make one addition has been justified but I think it's over the long term that that will be truley judged and I actually think we're very lucky that we have all the big teams at home over the first half of the season as the need for a defensive mid won't be as great at home and it gives us the chance to address the situation in jan for the away games next year in which a DM could be vital. Nice read and I hope we continue our form against an Arsenal team determined to prove a point.
