Ok hang on a minute.
I'm not a fan of Rooney myself, but if you want to hate him, hate him for the right reasons will you? He is a forward. End of. So what if he says I prefer playing in the forward position? I mean here we are moaning about Kagawa and Fellaini being played out of their positions but Rooney says he wants to play forward and he is a cunt for that? So am I to infer that a player is being played out of position but shuts up about it = great player, while a player who says he doesn't like it = cunt? What sort of rubbish is that? No. Not having that. Because it is the job of the manager and the people above him to create a team where the right people are playing the right roles.
Look at Dortmund. Is Lewandowski playing CAM? Is Gundogan playing defender? No. Look at Barcelona and Bayern? Pep tried playing the players out of position, till he realised a LB is best played at LB and a CDM is best at CDM.
The amount of player position shuffling going on at Manchester United is ridiculous. I am sick and fucking tired of seeing Jones and Smalling played at RB. And the one time I saw Fellaini playing CAM I wanted to drown myself. WHy the fuck do we buy players if not to play a certain role on the pitch? Why the fuck do we have 4 LBs but just 4 CMs? Why the fuck do we have 4 forwards competing effectively for 1 CF role and our best CAM player is shunted to the bench to accommodate another CF in his role? Does nobody plan these things? Is it just by a lottery system? Pick out a lucky chit and hey presto there's 3 more LBs? What the fuck is going on ? And why do we still have Giggs and Young and Anderson on the payroll?
Rooney is a cunt for holding the club to ransom. He is a cunt for trying to shaft the club while we were going through a tough period having lost Ronaldo and Tevez (yes his loss hurt us). He is not a cunt for wanting to play in his best position. He is a proven CF and has done the business in his role for years now. If RVP was suddenly put in a midfield role against his wish and he came out and said I prefer being a forward would he be a cunt too?

If RvP demanded we sign better players, then sulked when we signed the best striker in the League who rightly displaced him from his preferred position, then bitched about it, then yeah he'd be a bit of a c*nt. Rooney has had one truly world-class season. That's it.

Rooney has had one truly world-class season. That's it.Yet he is only 4th on the list of all time scorers for this club with 200 goals. At the grand old age of 27. Let us not kid ourselves bestie, he may not be world class , but he is not far off. Let not the dislike for him transcend into underestimating his quality. At this very moment, he is our best player. Fair enough regarding the other stuff you posted.

Even before Rooney acted the c*nt the first time (when I actually said he might have had a point in all honesty, but was pissed because of the way he went about it and how it reflected on Fergie) I and a number of others had said Rooney never matched his sky-high potential. His overall game has regressed over the years, and his touch is the worst from a top class player I think I have ever seen.
This isn't me not liking Rooney and that then colouring my view of his ability. He is a very, very good player, but only on his very best day is he world class. The rest of the time he is a good player. Yes, he's 4th in our all-time top goalscorers list, but he's been here for 10 years next summer and has essentially been first choice that entire period.
EDIT: I do him a discredit actually, didn't he score over 30 goals in 2011-2012 as well as 'the Munich 5 minute collapse' season?

rooney's been a great united player. they've more than got their money's worth from him for the best part of 10 years. arsed about the is he/isn't he? 'world class' debate, a pointless argument because there isn't a universal definition of what world class actually means.

IMO, Rooney is one of the best players in the world. If he gives up his 'tracking back to help the midfield and defence' stuff and saves his energy for making more forward runs and scoring goals, he could well have scored more goals. You never know.
I don't support the way he has handled things. Could have been much much better. But again, DM has not done any favors by publicly stating that he is a back up striker for RvP. Any, believe me any decent striker's Ego would be hurt. If DM feels so, fair enough, tell Rooney, not the media. So, the fault lies at both ends. For me, there are only 2 options. He leaves, and I forget about him or he stays and I don't criticize him (if i cant support him). But I agree with Bestie about his double standards. IMHO Rooney the player is 10 times better than Rooney the person.

Since Rooney has played just about every game we know he has not been treated as a backup.

Fair Enough. Depends on how you interpret it. If he would have said "If we lose Rooney, we will need RvP", does that make RvP happy? It emphasizes the priority of players which to me should not be brought out in the public; Keep it to the dressing room. In any case Rooney also has a big mouth and doesn't fail to hit the hammer on his own foot. So, well be it, let both of them learn or fuck off for the betterment of the club.

No, it isn't how you interpret it. It's whether you read the full quote or the media truncated version. The full quote clearly indicates Moyes meant that if RvP got injured, Rooney would be needed to play as the main striker.
"I think he’s got a major role to play because we need to try and get as many goals as we possibly can. I think Wayne can play up-top he can play dropped in. Overall my thought on Wayne is he’ll be key. If for any reason we had an injury to Robin, we are going to need him. I want to be able to play the two of them, I want to be able to use Danny Welbeck, Chicarito as well. The first year I think I have to get a chance to see (all the players) and how best to use them. It’s a chance for me to get Wayne right back to where he was. That’s the challenge and a challenge I want to take on. I’ve also got to make sure it’s not just him and we don’t concentrate on him. Manchester United isn’t about Wayne Rooney."
Nothing in there about Rooney being 'back-up' to van Persie. The closest thing Moyes said was that if RvP got injured, we'd be relying on Rooney more. Which we would.
I wish he would remember that bit at the end though and start acting like it.

What about the season he almost single handedly got us to Wembley against Barca and all the previous seasons when Ronaldo was still here? I still think he is a world class player but it isn't his game to create ala Mata, Ozil.

He has and still is a very good player...However the fact that he's been a monumental cunt makes it hard for me to praise him or actually want to say anything nice about him.

You're splitting hairs lads. Rooney is a top player. World class is just a tag, some say he is, some say he isn't. He's contributing to the team hugely at the moment.
He'd fucking want to on 250 grand a week.

Everybody's definition of 'world class' is different in fairness. I'd say Rooney has been our best player so far this season marginally over Carrick so it is hard to say he isn't contributing.
