Reds sign up first-years
Manchester United have taken on 10 first-year scholars to join the Academy squad for the 2013/2014 season.
Demetri Mitchell is the only one of the youngsters to have already made his debut at Under-18 level after coming on as a substitute in last term's home defeat to Crystal Palace. The England Schoolboys winger is one of three Manchester-born prospects making the step up, along with defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Devonte Redmond.
All of the intake are Englishmen, with the exception of Northern Irish duo Jordan Thompson and Ruairi Croskery.
Oliver Rathbone is classified as an Under-17 Academy student while keeper Kieran O'Hara becomes an Under-18 student.
First-year scholars
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson (Defender) Ruairi Croskery (Forward) George Dorrington (Goalkeeper) Dean Henderson (Goalkeeper) Scott McTominay (Midfielder) Demetri Mitchell (Winger) Devonte Redmond (Forward) Joe Riley (Midfielder) Jordan Thompson (Midfielder) Oliver Rathbone - U17 Student (Midfielder)
The Newgens are here. It'll be interesting to see if we have any potential gems in this new bunch.

Ruairi Croskery is the one to keep an eye on.
Borthwick-Jackson's a good defender. Him, Mitchell and Henderson have been part of various England youth squads. Mitchell is an exciting player to watch - bit like Morrison when he was younger, but Mitchell has his head screwed on.
McTominay and Rathbone will be interesting to watch - both technically sound and neat players but need to bulk up.

Go on lads. Keep your head down, work hard... and let the good times roll. Glory awaits you.
Or sign for Juve if you don't get any game time.

Demetri Mitchell, from a glance at two of his goals on youtube, seems extremely talented.

If Mitchell is as good as Morrison was at that age then I'd be excited to see him play....let's hope he is and does keep his head screwed on... Incidentally it looks as though Birmingham are going to try to sign Morrison permanently from West Ham...he made 30 appearances for them last season....
