I here-by nominate Marco Veratti as our next stalking victim. The young Italian has caught the eye at PSG after they plucked him from the obscurity of Pescara last Summer with some admirable performances in the CL along with helping the Parisians to their first title in 29 years, making 27 league appearances, winning 3 caps for the Azzuri in the process.
The diminutive play-maker would fit our midfield perfectly, I think he would be an excellent signing. We were reported to be scouting him last season, so he could well be on the radar. There could be concern as to whether he could handle the physicality of the PL but I think he would cope fine as he showed he could hold his own in there n the CL last season.

Hell yes to Verratti. I also saw a price tag on him at 20 million. Really should check it out if it has any legs. Verratti is fucking good.

Think me and Bestie talked about this some time back , sadly he signed a new contract ( I Think) and said that he wasn't interested in leaving anytime soon , we have also been linked with him so no chance that we will sign him unfortunately Cracking Player though. I'd be happy IF we could get him and Radja . Illaramendi was one other but we lost him to RM.

Paris St. Germain have snapped at suggestions Marco Verratti could be on the move. The 20-year-old Italian had a fine season for PSG but there were rumours he could be sold after becoming unsettled. Manchester United are keen on the midfielder, who has also been linked with Napoli, but both will have to shelve their plans to bid after the French club's director general Jean Claude Blanc confirmed Verratti was going nowhere. "Marco is not on the market," Blanc told Gazzetta dello Sport. "Marco is under contract with us for another four years and we are not obliged to do anything. We are pleased with his first season with us and we want to demonstrate our faith." There has been talk of contract renewal talks breaking down but Blanc added: "I repeat that Verratti is not for sale. It is therefore a waste of time to even start talking about transfer fees. "Marco will stay here with us for some time." They were quick to kill this thread, its on lol Read more at www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/transfer-rumours/130726/psg-insist-man-united-and-napoli-target-not-sale-202463#6Kst7Zeoci7Cwt6w.99

If this is going to be the random, no-hope nominations thread, can I throw Oliver Torres into the mix?

Fuck it, lets go even younger than Torres. Sergi Samper please.

Both good choices. Torres is a great wee prospect.
But Veratti is the man.

Lovely, just what we need, more lamenting over lost midfielders washed away on the ocean of top talent slowly eroding the barren shores of Manchester.
Eh?

Marco Verratti Signs New PSG Contract
The Italian midfielder had been linked with moves to Manchester United and Napoli.
Marco Verratti has signed a contract extension with Paris St Germain, meaning the midfielder is under contract with the French Champions until 2018, Goal.com reports.
The Italian is thought to be one of the best young midfielders in Europe and played a crucial role in helping Paris St Germain win their first Ligue 1 title since 1994.
Following his excellent performances, Verratti had been the subject of interest from Napoli, with the Italian club submitting a huge offer to PSG using the money they gained from the sale of Edinson Cavani.
Manchester United were also thought to be monitoring the young midfielder but Verratti’s future has now been resolved with the players agent announcing the news of the midfielders contract extension on Twitter.
“The deal is reached with PSG,” wrote Donato Di Campli.
“Marco Verratti will remain until 2018. The contract signing will occur after his return from the game in Gabon.”
Verratti signed for PSG last summer, moving from Italian club Pescara.
The midfielder went on to make 39 appearances for the French Champions over the course of last season and will now look forward to helping the club defend their Ligue 1 title whilst also trying to reach the latter stages of the Champions League.
