Udinese striker Luis Muriel is Manchester United’s preferred replacement for Wayne Rooney.
Reports in the Metro suggest the the Colombia international is the champions’ top target as they prepare to sell Rooney to Chelsea.
The pacy forward is likely to cost around £18m.
Muriel was a one time Liverpool target – and the star of the Twitter transfer rumour flowchart – who has also been watched by Barcelona recently.
United’s new chief scout Robbie Cooke is said to be a big fan and pushing for the deal to happen.
The 22-year-old can play as a central striker or on either wing, meaning he can be a backup for Robin Van Persie while also getting game-time on the flanks.
He scored 11 goals in Serie A last season.

"Preferred"?
I think you will find that this is not the case.
Ronaldo or Bale maybe. Muriel, not so much. He's still a good player, but I don't think he's our preferred replacement for Rooney. Not by a mile.

Will be one of the best forwards in the world in 2 or 3 years, but as Carbon said, we aren't buying anyone.

So, a paper says we are spending 18mill on another forward - a position we don't need and a player with no PL experience - no-one says anything.
A paper says we are spending 23mil on a midfielder - a position we do need and a player with PL experience - and a lot are unhappy?
Right.....

He was recently linked to the scousers as well, as the rat-cunt's replacement. Probably flavour of the month as the 'replacement' striker.

as for Rooney replacements - IF we are ever going for a striker - you know reinvesting the Rooney money - then i'd like El Shaarawy - that should be the guy we buy
