I know its rediculous but the Landing Pad has been laid out at Carrington according to a number of people on Twitter (namely journalists). Looks like its happening. James Ducker @duckerthetimes 11m Landing pad being marked up at #MUFC Carrington training base with Mata due to fly in by helicopter for medical thetim.es/LK3G5P

Yup after mata a midfield destroyer is needed. Reality is with mata, adnan and Rooney behind rvp there is creativity we need a destroyer that can pass, sits deep but is mobile and to be fair I fully believe fletcher and fellaini can rotate playing the role of box to box Problem is, Fletcher is 30 in a week and Carrick turns 33 in April. We need one world class midfielder asap, and another shortly after. i totally agree we need a world class mid in there but i still maintain with the time he has had off (i appreciate it was serious) and with fellaini picking up if we rotate the 2 smartly then we have the box to box area as good. what we really need is the carsick job of sit deep but with passing ability to relase his midfield partner or pick out the attacking trio further up the pitch, if they have the ball they will create and score. the carsick type has to be mobile though, there are players to do the role to be honest, matuidi (very dynamic and does box to box but i think in england he would sit more) same to be said of fernando and carvalho (really we should be giving them nano and whatever they want to get him, young and improving with each game). Vidal is a beast but thats the type we should be looking at if we are getting rid of fellaini, he doesn't come good or fellaini rotates with carsick in the deep role whilst the new mid rotates with fletcher. whichever way midfield needs a world class body to allow the attackers to do their job. lastly sell cleverly and fast

If we were to sign Vidal it'd cost us about 50 million. If the gimps are willing to pay that, whilst spending on a left back and a central defender of real class, there will be a deathly silence across the world, from ABUs to those of a United persuasion, as there will be nothing to complain about anymore. NOTE: This isn't a statement defending the Glazers, God, I'm aware they've sucked the life out of the club, I'm merely stating my apprehensive approach to the players linked to United and how unlikely it is they'll spend that much. Vidal, Mata, Coentrao & a central defender and we're up there. The chief editor of Goal. com (whatevs, I know) maintains we have a truckload of cash to spend between now and the summer - around 150 million... but it really isn't rocket science is it Jay, they will simply be investing to suck us dry. United are and will be beneficial to them only as long as we are a success on the pitch. Take that away and soon we will not have CL or prime slots on TV. Today most of United's matches are viewed across the globe and anything connected with us sells faster off the shelves. this is the only way to guarantee that they can suck us dry and also manage to have a big price tag on the club for sale.

Hypothetically, could Gundogan & Vidal be the best midfield partnership in Europe?

Its such a weird feeling, I feel completely and utterly low about the team at the moment, the pathetic performance last night - but this is fucking major news - but I cant help thinking that Mata might be reduced to the level of the rest of the team. The only way I can see this working is we play 4-2-3-1 - mata, kagawa and adnan behind RVP. Fellaini and Carrick behind them. We should all be rejoicing to the heavens but I feel worried. I'm hoping that it takes Moyes to the end of the season to sap the quality from Mata. Just enough time to help save the season.

Are the Glazers big fans of Apocalypse Now?

Mike Keegan @mikekeeganmen 8h I'd be surprised if, from what I heard, Mata was the only business #mufc did this window. #mufc Heard the same thing. Stop teasing us pls will ya? Murmurings of a mid? I do expect a LB and or a CB!

Just a crazy thought - i know signing Mata was allegedly cos we needed to show we could still get quality players in for another signing ( rooney or otherwise) but .. but... could it be for a New Manager Are we allowed to look or think in that direction You know set the team up for the guy
