Put it this way, Cabaye is better than Cleverley, but we'll not be making leaps forward if we signed him.
It'd be a temporary stop-gap and not really a jump in class.
Where the fuck is Matafix?!?!?!?!

On Vidal , the media are saying we'll probably have to offer Juve 35-40 mill. He'll be offered a much improved contract, is what they're saying. He signed an extension not long ago, but even then I doubt Juve could offer anywhere near what we could, Italian clubs don't have the financial clout any more. Vidal makes me sad, he was the one that moved for ~£12million in the summer that Fergie banged on about 'no value'. Really poor, would have fixed our midfield for so little money. If we do want him, nows the time. I fully expect Pogba to PSG for big money sooner rather than later, after which no chance. On Gundogen, was reading a post from the redcafe from someone who follows Dortmund and it sounds bad. If its true he has a unoperable back problem that could relapse at any time. Even questions over his career in general. Cant see us going anywhere near that if its that bad.

Where the fuck is Matafix?!?!?!?! This is my point, Anderson is gone and can anyone argue that Cleverley is better than Cabaye? We need midfielders of a higher calibre than what we have now and I don't see us spending 90mil on 2 world class CM's.

I understand your not exactly his biggest fan Any particular reason why? He's a standard bearer for the Ashley Young level of signing that we have to stay away from for the next few years if we're going to get anywhere. I rated Cabaye when he first came here, kind of. He looked pretty good in spells for Newcastle anyway. But I was also keen on Young when he was at Watford and at Villa (less so at Villa because he went from right winger to left-cutty-insidey midfielder) and was pleased when we signed him. Should have known better. Cabaye, to me, is nailed on to be another one of 'those' players who impress lower down the table and don't step up for us. We have to hold on to the idea that only the very best established players deserve to wear our shirt. Cabaye is not young, he has had attitude issues in the past (in France) and he is decent without being excellent. We have enough decent without being excellent. We need more Mata.

We need more Mata, I'd agree with that.
You're correct Bestie, thinking about it we do need to aim higher.

If we signed Cabaye-esque player we'll be heading for the predicament that met Liverpool a few seasons back.
Not terrible, but not great.
Sort of like when you've trodden on a piece of Lego.

I think the idea would be to get Cabaye now and then add someone like Vidal in the summer. Of course, fuck Cabaye if we can get Vidal now.

Fair enough, I agree that whilst we do need to be signing only the best, I just can't see it happening consistently under the Glazers. The best move that could happen this window is new owners, but we have more chance of buying Cesc for £26m...

Ben Smith @bensmith130 5m "United’s players have been told they will have to sacrifice their day off today and train at Carrington to help Mata integrate." #mufc Bet Tony and Pat have a problem with this too...
