All the talk of buy back clauses, who was the last young lad we sold and then re-signed? Hughes is the only one I can think of and that was near enough 30 years ago. Once they're gone, they're gone. That's the thing, how many of the youngsters who we have let go have actually struck it big time? Pique? don't think we inserted any clause for him, even if we did he wanted the Barca move so wouldn't have moved back anyway. We go on about the academy being great, & it is it produces a great deal of players who are able to make their living playing across all tiers of English football, but not many play in the Premier league and very few play for a top 10 team (sadly Gibson at Everton would be included in this pile), and Cleverley, who unbelievably is in our team should have been left put at Wigan imo. It's a sad truth but Evans, Januzaj (who hasn't been here that long) are the only ones off the top of my head who have really been able to cement a place in the team in recent times. So if Tunnicliffe & Cole can experience the Premier league now then we can see what level they are 'really' at if you catch my drift.

Oh fuck right off. Love how both, in particular Larnell Cole, got absolutely fair go's in the first team shake up for a decent run. Fuck off United. Hang on a second, were they both going to get regular outings in the side? Answer is nil, no, nada.
It's the clubs prerogative if they let them go, you clown.
Holier than thou, Repubik of Bestie. You're so up your own backside it's untrue. ffs.
Get over it.
I would suggest that you give your head a wobble before you find out why my name is what it is sunshine.

Yeah, we've produced a lot of Premier League quality players, but the thing that's annoying (and I'm guessing is annoying Bestie too) is that the likes of Simpson, Eagles, Bardsley, Richardson, Wallwork, Gibson, etc were given some games. They got a chance, we got to see them against Premier League players, and we got to say "Yup, not gonna cut it here, let them move on and have themselves a solid career elsewhere". Tunni, Cole, Brady; they haven't had any opportunity. They've looked good in the reserves, then they've been shipped out. If they never hit the heights then the club has made the right decision, but fans are going to get annoyed if they see a young talent doing well in the reserve team, then being shown the door without any first team chance.

Does anyone think Moyes' tactics will eventually work when we get new players and or the current players adjust or should they just be chucked out?
By Moyes' tactics I'm talking about the 4411 that gives the #10 a free role and sort of becomes a 433.

There was a way he could've said that without getting banned. Why would anyone speak like that on their 3rd post? Right. I think his larger point, minus the personal attack, was that no one is entitled to first team football.

If by that you mean having the Football Manager Editor and edit an entire team up to his tastes... yes, we will play what he MIGHT imagine his 4411 or whatever crap he thinks he's putting out. But seriously, IMO he needs to learn that he's not utilising the AM role and the Wingers well enough. Explained in the Mata thread I think - even though I support Moyes, someone needs to smack him at the back of the head and tell him that his tactics are utterly wankingly poor. I will love to be proven wrong. I hope Moyes will show me that he knows football more than all of us in his choices.

A 4411 that turns into a 433 in theory is really great but our wingers and cm can't do it effectively so it's like, do we go for a great tactic at extreme cost of replacing players? Or do we switch to the 4231 which we have more players suited to but is a bit unknown?

hdcantona - 3rd post and your attacking someone like that sounds to me.. you have history My view on us selling the youngsters. Some may not agree but i actually blame Chelsea/City for us not risking and trying out the lads. Back when Simpson, Eagles, Bardsley, Richardson, Gibson had the chance we were so dominant in the league we could risk them playing the odd game. Both Chelsea and City just buy buy buy.. and have put pressure on us. The risk now is so much greater that we no longer play our kids in the capital one games. Its not a Moyes issue its a period of 3 years really. Welbeck & Clevs got their chance via the loan system, Adnan is a one of and that's purely because he truly is something special. I do think, again won't go down well with some. But the Class of 92 is going to be a distant memory and for the next 5+ years we will be just like the rest.. Buy Buy Buy. Until Moyes has "his" own team when he can then start making his own risks. If you have followed by posts, im not a fan of quoting twitter rubbish! but i did see someone claim we have a chance of making a signing tomorrow. I will be watching SSN from about 6pm till 11 tomorrow

A 4411 that turns into a 433 in theory is really great but our wingers and cm can't do it effectively so it's like, do we go for a great tactic at extreme cost of replacing players? Or do we switch to the 4231 which we have more players suited to but is a bit unknown? We should play to our strengths - we have Januzaj, Mata, Rooney, Kagawa, Powell (he's back isn't he?) - all play well at AM positions. Then you have RvP, Chicharito - fantastic out & out strikers, best in poaching or finishing roles. And then you have Valencia, Young, Giggs, Nani - either not able to cross, off form, cannot cross, no left foot, unable to cross, too slow, unsuitable to cross, too old - at the wings. But we also have Evra, Buttner, Rafael - who all can cross much better this season than any given winger in our team. So we should play what everyone has been shouting about - 3 AMs, with marauding wing backs. Have Jones sit in the middle in front of the back two, and Fletcher in the middle. Have any 3 AMs in the middle, playing sweet short - medium passing football, and we have 2 options to get to the front man - through the middle via 3 super creative possessive AMs, or through the WBs who have been fantastic at attack this season. But what's most worrying is the use of AMs in Moyes' team - he likes them to dink in long passes. Hence I think that's why he prefers Rooney and Mata or Januzaj, all of whom are able to do that. Kagawa does not fit into his plan type. I dislike his use of AMs - it has been, the whole season, 50/50. He also has his Wingers not put in crosses, lays off to FBs, and cut inside. Hence why Valencia's shooting more this season IMO. But it's silly. It isn't working, and having Januzaj / Rooney / Kagawa / Mata is more potent than have Valencia or Young all day long. Young can turn out magical shots every once a while, but it's quite unreliable in high tempo games against better teams. So there - I think Moyes should tear his offensive tactics up, and start anew. Wingers are there to cross, not short passes or flicking passes (unless you're Ronaldo, of course). This is also why our striker is so isolated. He likes our AMs to come deep i.e. Rooney, Mata. This is also the reason why I think Januzaj does not play as well at Moyes' AM position. Etc. Etc. Etc.
