Listening to the radio and reading the paper today its like England won the WC already. They were shit playing boring football against Peru.
Only england can make every team they play against look like Brazil. 3 games they will get and only 3. They have no hope against Italy or U R Gay if they play like that.
I'll be supporting Shinji Japan.

Peru actually had a lot of very technically good players last night. More cutting edge and England would have been embarrassed.

Not a fan of International football. Champions League has almost rendered it meaningless.

Listen to you bloody miserable lot. We were sensational last night. I'm now more confident than ever that we're going to win the World Cup at a canter. I've got England fever - and so should all of you! Now to phone the curry house to order my first vindaloo of the summer.

In my eyes if people want to label Messi as the best ever he has to do it in a world cup thats what defined the greats of the past.

Best never played at a World Cup.
Neither did Giggs.
Although, there is an argument that World football was a smaller place when Bestie played, so he turned out against more giants than he would have in this era.

I am unfortunate enough to be that old I remember Maradonna in 86. Genius. Gazza 90 genius. This was pre Champions League. Are you now telling me a player needs to prove himself at a world cup to prove how good he is? My arse. Champions League is a far better scale to judge a player. If Van Persie doesn't score 6 or more in this tournament does this count against him? Messi will always be held as one of the greatest players of any era regardless of world cups.

Yeah I stand by that. In the CL these top players are playing in teams full of world class players, The world cup is a different kind of pressure from the CL. Top players will have ample chances at winning the biggest prizes in Europe in there career. The world cup, your lucky if you get 3 attempts at it, so the pressure players place on themselves never mind an unreasonable public makes it alot harder. Messi is a genius in my eyes but I guarantee the pressures of playing for Argentina far outweigh playing for Barcelona in his own mind. All the greats done it at international level, Zidane done it at international level when he dragged France to that final in 2006. Players like Xavi and Iniesta have done it at international level, pirlo etc etc. You can't honestly say Ronaldo is among the greats unless he does it for Portugal. You can't score 60 goals a year for Madrid and play like a bum in the world cup and expect people to place you among the best. He won the Ballon D'or in my opinion because he single handily got them into the finals against Sweden last year.

Best, Giggs, Cantona, Schmeichel, Scholes, Keane, Vidic and those are just United lads. Luis Figo, Seedorf, Ibrahimovic ... What is the criteria, does a player have to win the World Cup for his nation? Cruijff and Puskas both lost in World Cup finals. Ronaldo lost in a Euros final.

I sense a bit of Ingurlund mockery in the pipeline from Monty.
