I've just seen a brief report on sky news. It was about poaching these magnificent beasts and it really is heartbreaking watching what these people do to another living creature. I was lucky enough to see a black rhino in Kenya and out of the big five this animal really did take your breath away. I really can't believe this is still happening.

Did you have to run from the fucker then?

Lqtm. Love it. Not quite but our driver did a Schumacher across the Mara for about 45 mins to get to it, ignoring lions, elephant, cheetah's etc that's how rare they are. We later stopped at a lodge to fuel up and I was telling a ranger about it. He had been working there two years and had only seen one. Sad really.

It's a massive shame really, Same with Tigers and other exotic animals for so called 'medicines'. I really wish people would get a grip and realise that eating any body part from these animals cures fuck all, it only heightens their lack of intelligence

I think the way things are , we will soon see the extinction of the Rhino by 2020. Or Rhinos will no longer populate the wild and only in zoos and the lot. Humans are a vile species.

Money and the imbalance between wealthy societies and the poverty of the third world are the cause of more problems than just scarce animals. Trading children especially to warlords for cannon-fodder, amputating parts of kids for rich patients, pedophilia, destroying habitats, destroying antiquities, keeping populations in poverty, using religion to enforce cultural dictatorship, testing drugs without telling communities, the list is endless. The TV and media will only play to the cuddly issues and not the sheer extent of horror that is the daily routine for the larger mass of people on the planet.

Humans are a vile species. this is how I pretty much see 'humanity' on the whole; While capitalism rules the modern world people will shoot anything for a quid, even eachouter. We have this incredible ignorance towards our environment which is really putting the future of the human race at risk, chances are we will wipe ourselves out eventually. A good example is the $14bn dollars there spending over 20 years in the south of france on a fission reactor. Why aren't we spending 10 times that for a technology that could eradicate fossil fuels and go along way to addressing global warming. The amazon is the perfect example of our ignorance. We know that if it disappears we are fucked. Its a vital ecosystem that provides balance on this planet but its being destroyed and we are letting it happen.

Fission technically is an alternative to fossil fuels. But not a very safe one considering fukushima and the recent occurrences there. Fusion energy is what we should be looking at.

I meant Fusion, excuse my B in Physics.

But re: topic - food for thought, if killing Tigers or Rhinos does actually have a benefit in producing medicines... would it be ok then? What makes it different from herding cows, horses, chickens, salmon in factories and farms, slaughtering them for food? Is it just because they're rare, or as another means of exotic entertainment (i.e. Safaris, Zoos)?
Of course, I don't advocate unnecessary animal killing - especially when Rhinos and other said exotic animals don't really possess anything unique nor medically beneficial, but just something interesting to think about for me.
Re Money and Men's selfishness: The topic is a can of worms really... If men weren't born to consume and capitalise on others, each other and themselves... we wouldn't have poverty. For example, the billions spent on football could easily solve lots of crisis, but here we are complaining how our club isn't spending enough money, etc, etc, etc.

What these people do is barbaric. Plain and simple. Dart the rhino then wrench the horn out leaving a gaping hole where the horn was, then it Slowly comes round while bleeding to death.
