Notice how he exudes a sense of belonging? DD still keeps referring us as "they", "united", "somebody". Not sure whether that's his style but he sure comes across as detached.

Honest question. Why did Moyes buy him? He doesn't appear to be using Mata to the best of his abilities or wanting to play in a style that suits his, so, why spend more money on him than he or the club has ever spent on a player? I can't figure this one out.

I can't figure this one out. Honestly, I just think he panicked. He knew the fans were angry, he knew he'd completely fucked the summer transfer window up, he knew the team needed something and I think he heard Mata was available and just thought "Err, err, err, OK! Whatever, just buy him then" If he wanted a hardworking defensive minded left midfielder then he should have gone out and bought one. He's signed Piennar twice, go and get him again why don't you. Mata just strongly looks like a panic signing and now he's here he doesn't have a fucking clue what to do with him.

He doesn't appear to be using Mata to the best of his abilities or wanting to play in a style that suits his, so, why spend more money on him than he or the club has ever spent on a player? I can't figure this one out. I have the answer. Moyes thinks Mata is a winger. He thought he was spending £37m on a winger, just as he thought he spent £27m on an AM. Sounds silly, but I genuinely think Moyes thinks Mata is a winger, ala Kagawa. I don't think any of us should be bemused at how Moyes sets his team out - he is a truly tactical idiot: another example being Januzaj, arguably our most in-form player, keeps getting benched behind Young and Valencia. Or how about having only 1 defender and 1 striker, but 4 midfielders as his subs which he frequently doesn't use? Or constantly deploying 4-5-1 formation at home, dropping our AM so deep and asking our AM to shelve long balls, bereft of any creativity? Or how about making our midfielders redundant (more than they already were)? Or perhaps the 80+ crosses, which none led to our goal - and he still believed his tactic worked and blamed luck? Etc. Moyes thinks Mata is a winger. End.

One plausible theory is RVP wanting out and PHC as striker from next season with Mata in behind. Alantas's is much more likely though

Mata is going to have the same problems Kagawas has had. The fact that to operate in the poistions he does his best work in will already be filled by Rooney, who's too stubborn or not football savvy nbough to make a run for the pass so he can score goals. Seeing as that's kind of his job.

Bring in any player and DM will fit them into the same formation and force them to play out of position. But, just feel that Mata will be more successful than Kagz and will not get bogged down by Rooney the way Kagz did.

It's definitely Maradonna. He has a full head of hair. I was trying to make a joke about Rooney being a fat bastard. The joke has clearly bombed. I'll get my coat.

Is Diego laughing at Mata's stupidity? Playing as a winger for a prehistorian.
