Our benchmark for wages is apparently Wayne Rooney, yet we seemed to haggle over Januzaj's new deal.
If Kroos wants £ 250, 000 a week then fucking give it to him. He's in the strange-for-United position of actually deserving such a weekly payout.

He has a son who was born in August last year - another one for the never-ending list of reasons why this wont happen.

Accounting for the Pound Euro exchange rates, the quoted numbers will workout to 200k GBP.
I'm intrigued why they are so reluctant to put him close to top earners bracket. Thiago, who unlike Goetze is not a German prodigy is paid considerably more than him.

My concern over Kroos or Herrmann is their ability to cope with the PL and the pressure of playing for United. Both are great players but have a fair share of drifting out of games. Kroos gets the attention because of BM but I think Herrmann might be the better player overall. Kroos is often interviewed on after games shows, there are loads on Germany telly, but he never really comes across as a leaver. The decider might be if we play BM in the CL.

The sums the press are talking about just don't sound realistic. But lets face it if we want top players used to playing in the CL we are going to have to push the boat out. I personally feel this season has set us back at least 2 or 3 seasons and I would prefer we make some clever signings to get back into the CL next season and then look for the bigger signings, preferably with a better manager at the helm. Im not fooled by all these reports of Kroos, i expect many more before this seasons out.

I think a big club gets one season out of the champions league before it becomes a major issue in attracting top talent. You have to pay through the nose a bit but you can get top players if you offer them big wages.

There will have to be a major clearout if we plan to pay these kinds of wages. Players like Evra, Rio and Vidic leaving will remove a significant amount of cash from our wage bill, so there is going to be spare money id imagine they plan to use for players of his calibre.

You are trying to suggest that Herrmann is a better player than Kroos?

Herrmann plays as a RM/RW so can't really be compared with Kroos init? Although pretty good player actually.

Some myths just refuse to die. Kroos has a good physique anyway. Does not have a great deal of pace but neither did Scholesy. Also, I have not seen Kroos drifting. To the contrary, as a CM, he is always involved. I could easily make a counter argument that signing proven PL players has not always worked out.

You have a fair argument but I base my comments on watching the two lads almost every week. MG is a local side so I have seen Herrmann play against good and bad. Whereas Kroos looks very good but its difficult not to shine in BM side will all their stars. I like Herrmann better because he copes well in a lessor quality squad. Herrmann stands well against the media unlike Kroos who milks it. Frankly I would Rather Herrmann over Kroos especially in this present climate where Kroos' agent is using Moyes to barter with BM. I sense we are the fall guy in any possible transfer. Also given our present situation do we really need another prima Donna player in the squad?

This situation with kroos has not surprised me at all. Its really of Bayern's making and I don't think its daft for him to be wanting at least parity. I think he'd be happy to stay but Bayern need to set a standard as thing could get expensive as others renew. I can see why a stand off has occured
