Rooney captain for United - makes them worse. Rooney captain for England - make them worse. There's some sort of pattern here... To be fair, he didn't have to try very hard to make England worse.

No surprise, Rooney was the worst England player again, poor work rate, no chemistry with team mates, always looking for the 50 yard pass, Hodgson needs to grow some balls and drop him. Same with LvG once RvP is fully fit.

I'd stick him in the Gerrard role and give that a go - perfect opportunity to try that tonight He needs to play there for United too IMO - get him running around and his tits might get smaller

All about the record books and CV for Captain Wayne. there's a noticeable similarity between rooney these days and evra over the last couple seasons. more and more talk about "having to do better" and "turn it around" and "improving performances" while no actual change in performance. seemingly when you're struggling to perform, this is masked by countless interviews about how you're going to improve. just shut the fuck up and play like a player earning your salary SHOULD play. nobody wants to hear from you in interviews.

Papers are turning on the irreplaceable rooney though. Even the tosser Andy Townsend who i can't stomach as a commentator said Rooney needs to kick start his career.. Sorry to say it, but with a england head on.. Sterling is so having the #10 spot of Rooney sooner rather than later!

When they get an understanding going, they really are going to be deadly. Same was said when RvP was signed. But that understanding between Rooney & RvP never quite materialised. The only understanding that developed was that they would get in each others' way. Sorry Red, only just saw this. Had too take a few days out after the transfer window to unwind.
Agree with that but ADM is much more of a creator. He is not selfish like a striker.
That said it will be interesting to see Falcao and RVP in a front line together , I think that could get a bit tasty, they might well trip over each other

Interesting...
Radamel Falcao has revealed he was in talks with Manchester United ‘for some months’ despite joining the club at the last minute on transfer deadline day.
When news broke in Colombia linking United with a move for Falcao, it was a complete surprise to everybody as the striker hadn’t ever been considered a target.
However, United had already held talks with Falcao and his agent Jorge Mendes but kept it all under wraps from the press.
“I am very proud to be at Manchester United,” Falcao told reporters away on international duty with Colombia.
“We’d been in talks with the club for some months and in the end, we were able to reach an agreement with Monaco on the last day of the transfer deadline.”
The fact United managed to keep the negotiations private until deadline day is a testament to how well some of the transfers were conducted this summer, especially in comparison to last year where United’s dealings were very much public knowledge.
It also goes to show how complicated a move for Falcao was because United were unable to unveil the 28-year-old until 1.30am after the deadline had passed.
United fans can’t wait to see Falcao in action and the Colombian is equally as excited to simply be playing football again.
He added: “I haven’t had the opportunity to speak with the players but although they are stars, they are also footballers who play for the team to achieve the common goal.
“I am sure this will be the basis of our success and in any team who wants to achieve important things.
“I trusted in god to return to football. I have worked very hard every day to achieve and thank god my work paid off. I look forward to coming back and scoring goals and feeling relaxed about it.”

Absolutely adored reading that stat.
Also, how happy did Falcao look in those videos. He genuinely seems over the moon. No wonder, you're at Man Utd son!

Ruining football apparently #mufc - Enough said. in fairness (and i don't by any stretch believe we're the worst culprit's here) we've signed a good few of those HG players. we've still developed a number of HG's but the likes of jones, smalling, young, carrick and rooney we've brought in. that being said, united have always had a core of british/irish players. this will still be the case in defence and midfield cover. as others have said, we've made up for lost time with this summer's spending.

This uproar over the whole HG is doing my head in. The issue is rearing it's head after we act like a big club in one window, one fucking window. Even then we singed Shaw, a young English player as opposed to the plastics. Anyone clamoring to nurture HG despite 90% of them not being good enough is being naive.
England ought to have taken a leaf out of German and gone about solving the dearth of quality at the grass root level. Instead, they kept bigging up overrated cunts only to be repeatedly found out international stage.
