I am not an alcoholic by any stretch (probably exactly what an alcoholic would say)...
But I do love a good drink. Very much a whisky (and whiskey) drinker, but currently going through a bit of a tequila phase. Having just got back from the States, I am on the hunt for good tequila in the UK. They seemed to know their stuff over there.
I couldn't see a similar existing thread, and I apologise if there is one. But I would like to discuss any good booze recommendations, whether it's a fine spirit, a cracking beer, a particularly mind-blowing cider or a stunning wine.
Anyone got a glass of anything good? If I remember correctly, One_love likes his whiskies...
(I think we can safely say we don't need to post about Jameson, JD, Jim Beam, Bells...blah blah blah...)

I used to be quite a big fan of real ales but I got tired of having a few before feeling bloated and then the next day feeling like my stomach had been filled with lead. These days I mainly enjoy, with Coke, Sailor Jerry or Kraken, both spiced dark rums.

Have you tried Tiger Beer, traff? Originates in Singapore i think, cracking beer.
Spirits wise i would sometimes go for a Southern Comfort and Red, if i'm in the mood for a short after a couple of pints. Dangerous short because it's sweet and incredibly easy to drink. lol

@ rorsch - I am an active CAMRA member. Love most ales, except stouts generally.
@ bobbins - Big fan of Tiger but not so much of the SoCo if I'm honest but I do drink it on occasion!

As a red wine fan I can recommend barefoot merlot. The wife is partial to a polish vodka called zubrowka which is very nice, much better than Smirnoff!

With the Bison grass in it. Great flavour. I head over to Poland to see a mate of mine a few times a year and I always make sure I bathe in that shit. Luckily for you, my friend, your wife appears to have superb taste!

I must say, one of my all-time favourite beers would have to be Adnams Broadside. Adnams are generally a tremendous brewery. Great beers coming out of Suffolk.

They produce an excellent bitter called white monk. I had a surreal piss up there years ago with my old headmaster. It was ten quid for unlimited beer and a bowl of chilli. Top night!

Right, Phoenix's White Monk. That's the kind of hidden gem I'm after! I will look out for it.

Being a west country boy I loves me a pint of rough cider - Cheddar Valley and Black Rat being my favourite of the more commercial varieties - but I'll drink just about anything in a pint glass. And you can't go wrong with a nice smokey, full bodied single malt Scotch. I also like a good glass of wine. I work in fine food wholesale, and we have a pretty good wine selection - but I'm far from an expert.

A few months ago I had a scotch so damned smokey and peaty that it was like licking the inside of a garden centre, Spectacular. Jura Prophecy, it was. Get some.

When in Greece got really partial to "Metaxa" a cheapish Greek brandy surprisingly smooth and quaffable. If you fancy aniseed flavour rocket fuel ouzo is good and cheap. I once had a bottle of Mescal with the worm in the bottom, pure firewater but could never manage more than a couple of sips but there is no hangover with it.
