Sure NR7, but there's a difference between gambling and spending and breaking your transfer record - we could well get De Jong as a stopgap to Strootman when he's back and we're sure he can maintain fitness and performance levels again. As has been said though, we want players who want to play for United, so that also plays a part and could well make or break the Vidal saga. And what other midfield targets are out there that are right up there with the best, haven' moved yet and falls within LVG's plans? He's passed up on Fabregas and Kroos, so we're looking at our top two targets injured atm - do we really want 3rd, 4th and 5th choice players rather than wait for the best ones? Tough call. As it stands in today's Tuttosport: Seems the ball is in his court. Considering he mentioned "if the Manchester United interest falls through" earlier in the window I'd not give up just yet. But I'd also not bet on it

Omid Zamani @juventus__fan 1h
Today's TS reports #Vidal had a positive meeting yesterday with #Allegri, after meeting #Vidal said to #Marotta "If I stay I'll be happy".
----- So many ifs.....

Today's #gds: it seems it was Man Utd that asked for Vidal's medical tests (yesterday). (PRETTY BIG REVELATION HERE - It was reported that he returned to Juve and had tests done on his knee)
Today's #gds: Marotta is now waiting to meet Vidal's agent perhaps as early as today, direct contact with #Felicevich who is in Italy now.
Today's #gds that probably in today's meeting #Vidal's agent #Felicevich will submit #mufc's 60m bid to Juventus CEO #Marotta.

Why would any club entertain having or disclosing medicals of their own player for another club?
I certainly have not given up on Vidal dream yet but can't shake off the Fabregas feeling to this whole saga.

Jay,
Isn't Kroos and Cesc creative mids of which we have Anders now? Atleast what I think we need is a DM or ball winning enforcer type. Yes, it's a tough call and our top 2 are injured but should it matter if said player s nth choice but actually good enough ? Not better than what we have but for eg Carvalho, either of Benders, Sandro et al. LVG will obv have specific targets in mind and as you rightly said personality fit is important but surely, it's impossible to say there is no one out there apart from Vidal or Strootman.
Guess I'm frustrated that it's been 5 weeks since we made double signing. More so angry with myself for believing "watch this space" and "no budget" horseshit.

El Mecurcio (Chilean paper) says we have a verbal agreement in place with Vidal.
Is that a feint pulse?

We can have all the agreements we want with Vidal in principle. If we don't actually make a bid to Juventus we can't sign the damn player.

It's a long process. Ed has to crunch some numbers, then triple check them, then knock up a few Powerpoint presentations. Then he has to work out how to use the fax machine. Also, he is yet to realise that you need to dial a 9 for an outside line. He has assumed that Turin is just constantly engaged thus far.

Our bids must be the business. WordArt everywhere, wingdings, page borders, page numbers, color printed, laminated covers, the works.

It gets ugly
