Achieved literally everything at this club. I wish him well and hope he scores at Anfield next year. Regardless of what ppl on here think of him it's worth remembering that thousands of fans chanted his name when he came on in the closing minutes of the Europa final.

Fair play, yes he did,and if he'd have gone in 2013 his reputation would've been far more unblemished than now.

I just think he genuinely thought he had a lot left in the tank and he wanted that pay day. The board, media, pundits etc believed it as well as did his sponsors.

There should be some sadness at this. Not because we're clearing out the shell of a player he became but because he shouldn't have declined at such an alarming rate. He should have achieved more, he had the talent to. I know he won everything but there was more there for him and for us. He should have been one of the all-time greats, a force of nature that couldn't be contained. Instead we got the cover version for 5 years.

I don't know whether I'm the only one but there was genuinely a time, probably a year after Ronaldo left, where I thought he'd eventually get to his and Messi's level. Probably incredibly naive but that's just a sign of my admiration for him at that time. I've said it before but the main feeling I have towards Rooney isn't anger, it's definitely sadness.

Dr Nick came in for us!
Man United's Wayne Rooney has medical at Everton -- sources play Koeman would be clever with Rooney (2:11) Facebook Twitter Facebook Messenger Email comment 12:13 PM BST ESPN Staff Wayne Rooney has undergone a medical ahead of his proposed return to Everton from Manchester United, sources have told ESPN FC.
Rooney, 31, was at the Finch Farm training ground on Saturday, as the move back to his boyhood club 13 years after leaving for Old Trafford draws closer.
The news comes on the same day United announced that a deal has been agreed on to sign Everton striker Romelu Lukaku for £75 million, subject to the Belgium striker passing a medical and agreeing to personal terms. The two transfers are being conducted separately.
Rooney signed for United in 2004 from Everton as an 18-year-old in a £25.6m deal.
He went on to score 253 goals in 559 appearances, winning the Premier League title five times.
In January, he scored his 250th goal for United to break the record set by Sir Bobby Charlton.

He was appointed club captain by former manager Louis van Gaal in 2014 following Nemanja Vidic's departure to Inter Milan.

i'm glad he is going and its a massive relief.but there is some kind of sadness to the case,at least for me. as mentioned before he could have achieved so much more and he could have left the club with much more respect towards him from many fans. he has done great things for united and as sad as i am that he broke sir bobbys record,a hard-hearted well done wayne.
but having said all that, its his own fault and only he is to blame for what he has become.the club and the previous managers gave him absolutely everything and he looked like a headless chicken on the pitch. ronaldo and messi are exceptions but there are many others out there who looked after their own bodies in the latter stages of their careers and managed to play at the highest level into their mid 30's.
thanks for the memories, the goals, the records but man...i'm happy he is going and i wish him all the best at his boyhood club

Glad as his time was up 4 years ago but he was idolised before and now it's come to this. Out of shape, zero passion left, paid thousands despite poor performances. Its like his heart isn't in it and it hasn't been for a while. What a shame.

Im not sure what happened to Rooney maybe it's because he was playing men's football from the age of 16 and burned out early but in the last three seasons in particular he`s been poor, his touch went, his pace went, his heart wasn't in it but he was getting paid ridiculous amounts of money. Moyes and van Gaal made things worse in thinking he still had it when we could all see he didn't, he was brilliant in his first 10 years and at £25M we got our monies worth out of him overall.
