Okay, it's spanned a few threads already, so this is an effort to centralise the talk about it. Paul Parker is basically a lone voice in ex-pro's football media pundits who is actually speaking out completely against the Rooney hype and bullshit so many of us have been disgusted at and disagreeing with for a long time. This isn't a guy who people can excuse his criticisms away as 'personal malice' clouding his judgment of Rooney, he's an ex-United player. It's been a long, long, time coming. Everyone is talking about his latest Blog post, but it is not the first time he has pointed out that Wayne Rooney is failing, consistently, to reach the minimum levels expected of an allegedly 'World Class' player. He has also spoken out - rightly, in my view - against Rooney getting the captaincy. Latest: Falcao Should Spell the End for RooneyRecent: Rooney's Lack of LeadershipSignings Won't Save Us If Rooney Must PlayCaptaincy: uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/paul-parker/why-rooney-doesn-t-deserve-captaincy-150134850.htmlI'm usually against just posting links, but he deserves the hits to be honest.

I was against Rooney getting the armband but TBH there wasn't a lot of competition - RVP maybe but going by last year he'd spend a lot of time out injured (hopefully not) plus the fact that LVG likes a captain from the same country as the club - Fletch is VC but will he play much now with Blind and Herrera (and Carrick) in front of him? - Carrick isn't vocal enough and Jones is too young and inexperienced (will be next captain IMO) - only other option was to buy a very experienced player and make him captain - can't think of a British player like that who was available and it usually causes problems to make a new signing skipper anyway

Lol, Paul has turned himself into one of my all time United legends overnight. Hopefully he can weedle out some of the others on the media who have obviously been too scared to speak out against PHC.

always liked Paul. He used to come on as one of the expert/analyst along with Steve McMahon and never shied from putting him in his place.
Glad to see at least someone in the media isn't towing the "Rooney is Manchester United" line

Now what this proves beyond any reasonable doubt is that ROM contains by far the most knowledgeable United fans. We have all been highlighting Rooney's lack of worth to the side for light years.

As a full back in what was one of the best United sides of 93-94, let's hope his words send shock waves through the frat boy culture in the media that over hypes and over rates its Scouse Pele. The reality is though that successive managers appear to have been brought under his spell. He is a decent player but that is about it I am afraid. He confuses the size of his ability with the size of his paycheck as Marlon Brando once said about Val Kilmer. Paul Parker, I salute you. The saving grace is that in LvG we have a manager with cajones who wil not be afraid to strip him of the captaincy and bench him if his woeful form continues, hopefully.

LOL - I don't even consider him player material let alone captain material As for Johnny Evans - he's probably 5th choice now -- only because young Keane has gone to Burnley

Even tho I agree with him slightly I do feel he is just another former player trying to make a name for himself by bashing the club randomly, that includes scholes too some of the stuff he beeñ saying is a bit over the top concidering he is still hanging arou d the club himself as a paid ambassador but dont get me wrong I love scholes for what he has done for the club but just not some of the stuff he has said since then,
