Right it's the other half's birthday next June and looking to go away on a city break, looked at Berlin and Lisbon so far which both look reasonable.
Anyone got any recommendations? 2 or 3 nights, plenty of stuff to do / see, bit of sun would be nice but not a necessity, not extortionate price wise either.

Amsterdam.
Loads of museums, clubs, bars, reasonably priced. You can hire a bike for the 3 days and cycle everywhere. The whole prosititution thing can give a mental impression of gaudiness but the rest of the city isn't like that in real life.
Or Florence, excellently-priced B&Bs, loads to see, beautiful city, again very reasonably priced. Or, staying in Italy, Bologna. It's like a perfectly formed tourism city that tourists haven't found yet. Agian, lots to see and not extortionate. Plus, trains to surrounding Italian towns/smaller cities too.

i'm a big fan of poland. krakow is lovely and generally a lot cheaper than berlin, amsterdam and the rest once you get there. stockholm was also gorgeous when i was there for ireland's WC qualifier. bit pricey though.
berlin and amsterdam are both awesome too.

Ta for the suggestions so far. Should of noted in the opening post that I've been to Amsterdam and Prague before so ideally looking for somewhere new to go! Florence certainly sounds like the sort of place I'm looking for though.

If you have done Amsterdam already I cannot recommend Florence highly enough. I loved it there, stayed 4 nights before I had to leave to back to do an exam.

Florence is certainly on my radar for a city break some time in the future. Rome was cool, so much culture and history there, but it was very expensive. Bologna is an interesting one, might have a look at that too. I love Madrid too, though I don't need accommodation so not sure how pricey. Not really a City break but I love Bruges. Only a small place, but who doesn't like a fucking fairytale town? All that Belgian beer

He wants a break, not a punishment. Only place I know where you use your bike lock while your cycling.

Prague and Florence are both amazing cities, can't miss with either. If you have the cash for it Geneva and Lucerne are always a good time and Switzerland is really nice in the Spring.
