Ronaldo stirring things a bit questioning Erik's lack of standards. And of course Garnacho has liked the associated Instagram post so there goes his chances of starting after the international break. Clearly Ronaldo is a bit biased but he is starting to have a point. Erik is always full of excuses and keeps downplaying our chances and it must be starting to infect the players. He also isn't ruthless enough continuing to select Rashford and Casemiro when their performances clearly haven't been up to scratch. And the Ugarte thing is completely ridiculous. He should be walking into this team! Ronaldo was absolutely proven right. The interview he did back then was still the wrong thing to do but he was absolutely right.

You know someone else who's scored 900 goals in their career? Not talking about his 900 goals, but let's be honest his 2nd stint at United was shit.
The fact that he is still gunning for ETH is just petty. Even worse is him asking the best buddy club to be involved. You want Ferdinand anywhere near United? He'll have his mate Maguire starting every match once more.
What is clear is that even Ronaldo needs to keep talking about United to be in the news.

Was it shit though? In his first season when everyone around him had downed tools he scored 26 goals.
Erik decided he preferred Rashford and Martial and Ronaldo didn't take it well. But Erik's judgement has hardly been vindicated. He only got one good season out of Rashford and Martial barely made any impact over the last two seasons. Of course Ronaldo should have shown Erik more respect and been patient and fought his way back into the team. But he has never been the kind of player content to sit on the bench and pick up a fat pay check and we should have taken that into account when considering the wisdom of signing him in the first place.
If we look at the facts, in spite of considerable investment in the playing squad Erik has turned us into a cup team that is nowhere near top 4. Even Ole managed two consecutive top 4 finishes with a far more limited squad. Obviously Manchester City have unfair advantages but that hasn't stopped teams like Liverpool and Arsenal giving them a good run for their money and challenging for the title. And both Jose and Ole managed to finish 2nd even if they never really came close to winning it.
But apparently now any criticism of our league form can now be batted away by reference to our 2 domestic cup wins and injuries and new players needing time to bed in (even though every single club in the league struggles with injuries and signed new players) and the argument that it takes time to build a new team.
Maybe the best way to illustrate this is his comments after the Liverpool game:
"I'm not here to talk for him [Slot] but Liverpool, it's clear, they are in a different phase of the life cycle. They have a team that is mature, players who have been playing for a long time together and who are very experienced. We have much more of a mix and have to build a new team"
Erik has been in the job for over 2 years now. Obviously some mistakes have been made with recruitment and this is the first good summer recruitment we've had. But we need to kick on and top 4 and a good run in the cups should be the minimum objective.

Isn’t that just realistic? Who the fuck thought we were going for the title this season? The obvious aim would be a trophy and top four. Talk of winning the league comes off as deluded rather than having standards. The owners are talking about the timeframe of this rebuild. They’re realistic about title winning aspirations. You’d expect the captain to follow suit.

I think it is about striking a balance.
Our league form over the last 20-30 games is appalling. And Erik is hiding behind excuses (injuries, new team, new signings, yeah but we won a few cups etc).
I can't fault Bruno for saying we aren't in the title race. But standards have definitely slipped under Erik. We should be winning most of our games. And we should be playing an attractive style of football and controlling games instead of going toe to toe with relegation fodder.
Erik will probably get until Christmas because INEOS will give Erik a bit of time to integrate new signings and build some momentum.
But at that point if we are nowhere near top 4 and still playing like crap they'd be justified in sacking him.

Yeah 26 goals in a season is pretty shit isn't it. You talk as if he held them at gunpoint to sign him. Not petty, just speaking facts. He was asked about it, and he spoke about it. And he's absolutely right about it.

And he's absolutely right about it. Sure if you look at it from his point of view 26 goals from Ronaldo looks great but how did it impact the team ? We went downhill, We had goals coming from different players prior to his arrival and when he did, the goals from everyone else dried up. Coincidence? maybe or maybe not? Well such a big United fan he was that he was going to go with City and not us. Only for Fergie to change his mind and he got payed some serious $$ so let's not kid ourselves. Bottom line it was the Instagram followers as to why the Glazers wanted him back. It wasnt to strengthen the team. We were a pure counter attacking team and he did not fit that at all. This was the reason why goals from everyone else dried up. So sure 26 for Ronaldo but United were worse overall. Big success LOL! It is petty, you think the questions arent curated prior to his show? Dont be so naive. He might be speaking facts, but he didnt exactly bring us anywhere, that is also a fact. He in reality held United back.
Anyway tired of this Ronaldo bullshit, he was a brilliant player for us first time around and will be always remembered for that but in my eyes he gave his best years to Real Madrid. United is just one of the teams, Real Madrid is his team.

Was it shit though? In his first season when everyone around him had downed tools he scored 26 goals. Was it only that though? We were a counter attacking side prior to his arrival. In fact that was the only way Ole knew how to play. Listen to Ole talk about it as well, he has spoken about this a few time that the team had to adjust but who was he to refuse a chance to sign Ronaldo so he took that risk.
There was a reason why he scored 26 but the output of everyone else fell.

Rest of the team downed tools under Ole and Ralf. Ronaldo to his credit kept plugging away and doing what he does best-scoring goals.
And by all accounts a lot of players instead of learning from Ronaldo and his professionalism were jealous of him and were probably glad to see the back of him.

That can be the understanding between manager and Ineos management but as far as the players are concerned the goal for season should be Manchester United compete for every trophy available. We fight with everything we got. Ole also made the same mistake, i supported him at the time, but i think it was a mistake now, it will affect the players mentality for sure.
