Isn’t that just realistic? Who the fuck thought we were going for the title this season? The obvious aim would be a trophy and top four. Talk of winning the league comes off as deluded rather than having standards. The owners are talking about the timeframe of this rebuild. They’re realistic about title winning aspirations. You’d expect the captain to follow suit. Still, no need to say it in the press. That can be the understanding between manager and Ineos management but as far as the players are concerned the goal for season should be Manchester United compete for every trophy available. We fight with everything we got. Ole also made the same mistake, i supported him at the time, but i think it was a mistake now, it will affect the players mentality for sure. The new owner said it in the press months ago.

Not talking about his 900 goals, but let's be honest his 2nd stint at United was shit.
The fact that he is still gunning for ETH is just petty. Even worse is him asking the best buddy club to be involved. You want Ferdinand anywhere near United? He'll have his mate Maguire starting every match once more.
What is clear is that even Ronaldo needs to keep talking about United to be in the news.
lol. no he doesn't, fastest ever to 20m youtube subs or something. before he released a video Yea but it is what has been picked up by the media everywhere... The rest of his stuff has been ignored and mostly cringe

It would be lunacy for anyone to say they expect us to compete for the title this year. It’s an unrealistic expectation which we could only fail to match. The idea is that we want to be back in a position where we can expect to be in a title race. I get you don’t want to set the bar low, but getting into the top four and winning a trophy would be this team performing this year. It’s not a license to underperform. That would be Man City setting the expectation of top four and a trophy.

I see Ugarte played a full 90 for Uruguay last night but of course Erik will no doubt say he's still not fit or "Premier league fit" Could take MONTHS! ETH said he’s available for Saturday

ETH said he’s available for Saturday Yes but that means he’ll be on the bench with a 10 minute cameo at the end

He'll probably have more followers across all social media than the entire world's media

Even if he is, why are you so bent out of shape over it? Giving it the biguns with the “I’m done with the Ronaldo bullshit” but you continue talking about him. Let it go, if you can.

I haven’t heard of any single personality having such numbers. I don’t know how many are bots and how many real humans but the engagements on his posts/videos are also among the highest in the world. Some folks can’t stand that he left United and became a superstar. He was never, ever in a million years going to achieve all that he did in Madrid, here in Manchester.

Let's get real. With the Glazers underinvesting we'd have never stayed on top for very long even if Ronaldo had stayed. He managed 4 CL trophies with them, 2 La Liga Titles, 2 Copas des Reyes, 2 Spanish Cups, 3 Club World Cups and 3 UEFA Super Cups. And also he is Latin so the lifestyle suited him better so the move was partly motivated by personal as well as footballing reasons.
Ronaldo was never going to spend his entire career with us. Where we went wrong was not using the £80m as well as all the commercial money we were raking in to properly refresh the side before Fergie left. The huge debt burden and the Glazers dividends didn't help on that score. We also failed to modernize our footballing operations and in the end Fergie just ended up using his managerial genius to prolong the life of the existing squad and squeeze out a few more trophies before his eventual departure.
And we guilt tripped Ronaldo into re-joining us. So can hardly be surprised things ended badly. We knew what we were getting. A wonderful player past his best that would give 100% and score goals but wouldn't be happy sitting on the bench or playing a supporting role in the squad. But the Glazer PR machine simply wouldn't contemplate letting him join Manchester City so got into motion.

Pep and Ronaldo would have fallen out quickly enough. And perhaps they wouldn't have been able to sign Haaland. And the season we deprived them of Ronaldo we finished 35 points and 5 places below them.
That was a horrible season anyway and with everyone else downing tools including Bruno and Rashford the only enjoyment was seeing Ronaldo bang in 26 goals and who knows how low we would have finished without him in the team.
But anyway things are different under INEOS and we are focusing on longer term solutions than short term fixes.
