Why do they have to arm people all the time? Surely the American Army could stroll through there in about two weeks & end it without arming the IS' rivals. Americans should roll throught it, take it over & then give it to the Swiss to run. They do a good job. Normally they'd send a few thousand poor, black people into battle but the American people got a bit pissed off with that Now they just arm everyone hoping they'd wipe themselves out and the Yanks can go and steal any oil and other valuables afterwards Talking of Bush - was there even a more aptly named family?

Meh, Need to go in kick the hell out of them, then build a whole bunch of fast food franchises and give them all high paying jobs. Then take the oil and drop my gas prices backj to where it was when I first started driving 19cents per gallon of Premium and none of this unleaded shit

One or the other. The whole middle East. Conquer it old school. Plant the flag.

There will always be warring factions in the middle East, there has been for centuries and I'm sure there will be for centuries to come. I feel for all his friends and family members. Poor soul was only trying to help.

Errr! Taliban - Funded and armed by US and UK Governments during the Cold War. Al Qaeda - Funded and armed by US and UK Governments during the first Gulf war. Isis - Funded and armed by US and UK Governments during Syrian uprising.Fail to see where the Saudis fit in really. Exactly Tatty. There is an element of needing to clean up one's own mess here. This actually started in Libya with the West's happy to sit back and watch. Now the monster is out it needs to be eradicated.

Assad isn't going to do anything stupid, yes he's a despot, but there's zero evidence he used chemical weapons on his own people, and more evidence to suggest Isis/Rebels did it to garner international sympathy, which worked. Whilst I agree military force is needed to eradicate a bunch of mentalists like Isis, but once you get rid of one, another will crop up when it suits the West to arm people they have no idea of their motives. And you can't just go in willy-nilly in to countries of small brown people just because a few people got their heads chopped off. The world doesn't work like that.

I don't advocate military intervention because of a few horrific murders. I advocate it because the Iraqi military, though stabilised since it's early set-backs, doesn't look like it's ready to lead a major fight back. The US and Obama raced to pull out troops from Iraq and this along with Syria allowed ISIS the perfect opportunity to develop. I read recently that the main reason ISIS stalled is due to a lack of central power base and could be relatively easily defeated as of now (and the ferocious defence by the Kurds show they can be stopped by bravery and determination) And with so many Europeans fighting in ISIS where do they think they are going to go if this just peters out? Back home to wreck havoc there. And they cannot be allowed to get any closer to Turkey. That is unthinkable.
The Americans invaded Iraq based on the flimsiest of evidence. They destabilised a country and made it the destination for terrorists world-wide and then pulled out before it was ready to take care of itself. It is duty-bound to intervene because the country is like that because of them and them only. And Bush senior failed the Kurds before. They cannot do it again with any conscience.

How about to prevent the massacre/genocide of the Kurdish people? Because that's what ISIS fancy right now. Take Kobani: Kill Kurds. For The U. S., ourselves and the other so-called "superpowers" not to be going in with the full might of our combined militaries is a disgrace to our humanity. How about instead of flexing muscles anddoling our hyped-up 'assistance' we actually DO SOMETHING RIGHT for a change.

Turkish must be worried about the Muslim population, as in most of the population, rebelling. Seems like they want to be seen to be defending their doorstep as much as is necessary to be seen to be doing something, but not enough to be seen as getting too involved.
(lots of to's in that sentence)
Get Turkey, and it's one step from the Med
