Never heard of him before today, but apparently he's passed the medical and about to join the club. 17 year old Canadian midfielder/winger. That's all I know. Has anyone seen him play? Just seen this myself and I know nothing about him... This from Sport Witness Canada and football, now there's a pair which doesn't sit together very often. Perhaps the best known Canadian born footballer of all time is Owen Hargreaves and he quickly moved to Germany before becoming English and representing them. There's also Tomasz Radzinski, he played for Everton and Fulham whilst representing Canada but, as his name suggests, he was born in Poland. There's a distinct gap in the market for good Canadian footballers and it appears that's been the case throughout history. But if a mould is to be broken then someone has to do the breaking and Josh Doughty could be just the man. The 17 year old travelled to Manchester this week to sign up at Old Trafford and has confirmed himself that he's passed a medical with the club. Manchester Untied's new man is a midfielder and obviously highly rated, he's recently left Real Salt Lake to pursue a career in Europe. Canada must be thrilled to have a young man so highly rated signing for Manchester United. When is he going to play for the national team? Well, he may not. Website O When The Yanks quote Doughty as saying "I have been invited to some US youth camps, but I am not yet a US citizen. I should be getting my US citizenship soon.” "I can play for Canada, England and hopefully will be eligible for the USA soon. I am still undecided on which team I will play for at the moment.” Doughy has British parents, given him a wider choice of countries to represent and he moved to the USA when he was a young child, giving him the chance to get citizenship. Another one could slip through Canada's clutches.
