This almost seems to depend on his form, the team form & players that are available. I'm really not sure. What do you guys think?

Keep him up top for me, preferably paired with another striker and Mata/ADM in behind. Let the midfielders play midfield. Thats my logic anyway...

While Rooney himself, England Media may disagree i think he is best when up front. He is no No.10 and while he can do a few good hollywood style passes, Midfielder he ain't. But the trouble is he wont be in one place, he has and will always be the player who will be where the ball is and so he would need to paired with another striker/attacker up front so that we don't have a blank when we are on the counter or want to pass to someone up front and no one is there

Just posted it in the other thread as didnt notice this one.
There is a lot of talk of Rooney starting as an out and out forward because of the form he is in combined with RvP's lack of sharpness. However, I am not too sure that 1) Rooney would do well as a #9 and 2) whether he himself prefers to play as a #9. I think he has got his mind set on the #10 role where he has the freedom to go forward or back.
I would rather start Wilson for RvP instead of starting Rooney as a striker
I think Rooney's best position is AM, but not with a team like us.

Up top. Run wide, pacey wingers with him and you will get the best out of him. He needs runners in order to excel and a solid CM that can force him to stay up top.
He may not have the pace any more but he does have a knack of finding the ball in scoring positions.

Up top, or wide as part of a fluid front 3 ideally for me.

I still maintain best position is out of the club in the summer but for now, up top. Simply coz it will allow for the actual No 10 in Mata or Herrera to play.

I'd rather he was gone too, but for now, and if he keeps playing well then I'll acknowledge it, doff my hat or whatever. But if he's shit I'll call him an overpaid cunt.
He's playing well at the moment, so well done

Again not to gripe or bitch about Rooney , he is still our player and all
But what is being paid at our club and what is he giving back in terms of performances.
Now compare that to the likes of Ronaldo, Messi, Costa, Aguera, Silva, Ibra and then tell me that what ever he is doing is well enough.
His position is up top with another attacker at best, but to say that he is the best or other players are no where near his quality within united or otherwise is just a big Joke.
For all the hollywood passes and running and all he still has a poor first touch coming back into games, doesn't always pass to another which could actually open up play or benefit us by a goal and looses possession more often than not
