Maybe he had the shits if he was forced into a loan move he didn't really want? No matter though, throwing your toys out of the pram is no way to behave and hardly likely to enhance your reputation and in turn, career progression. I'm old school, I can't take to these prima donna types. Time to move him on, if anyone will take him. If you have the right attitude then a loan should be seen as an opportunity to impress...a lot of players have gone on loan and come back to be part of the first team...Becks went to Preston didn't he? This will be shocking waste of talent if he doesn't make it...he has all the attributes apart from, it would seem, the one you need between the ears...sad... Think he played 8 games for Preston.

Interestingly you wouldn't expect this attitude for someone brought up in a humble background of Crewe. Probably got blinded by the haze and maze of fame and success.

"Too much, too young." Its easy to look down on these kids and be judgemental. It's often forgotten the pressures they're under and usually without proper role models as mentors. Best went home when he was homesick and there were many like him. He eventually turned into a chronic alcoholic and destroyed his career. Gazza was another who failed to booze. Powell's drink driving offence a day before a critical FA cup game last season while on loan was an indication of his struggling under pressure. Now it's reared up again which indicates he has serious issues. Morrison also went beyond acceptable behaviour and exasperated the OT officials.
Beyond football, some gifted young men just go astray even under the most caring circumstances. In academia I have seen it happen with the most gifted of young intellectuals. Alongside the gift comes a whole load of baggage that is mostly to do with family life or upbringing. Outside the nest or home environment these lads fall apart psychologically, and simply cannot cope. I once had to talk a young mathematician off a roof and later discovered he was being ripped apart by his divorced parents each making impossible demands. Another I found in his apartment totally unable to function or do anything. His apartment was in a terrible mess and had to call his parents to take him home. Even with professional help it's unlikely that troubled young men can function without difficulties.

Sadly that is the case and some kids can't take the pressure...others, though do the Billy Big Balls thing as they think they have already made it once they get signed up... The ones who make it are the ones who see signing up as just the very beginning, they realise how bloody lucky there are and they work their asses off to make sure it continues and they make the best of their ability...if you have great talent and you work hard, almost anything is possible...that holds true outside of football too...

A bit thorn about Fletch. Last season he put out some pretty decent performances, especially when he played alongside Kagz (((( But then, after each good run-in he was put in subs or not feature at all in the squad for extended periods. This season however, apart from few flashes, he was majorly underwhelming. Shot of confidence from DD perhaps, I don't know. I would personally like to keep him if there's any chance he can recover his form. We might be short of midfielders come end of the season, and a squad player who can cover for cup games and some easy european and league fixtures can not be bad, though some might argue that those should be chances granted to youngsters. Anyway, my personal choices for players who need to depart would be: Clevs (contract expires summer 2015) - 70k per year wage Amos (contract expires summer 2015) - 10k per year wage Ando (contract expires summer 2015) - 60k per year wage Lindegaard (contract expires summer 2016) - 40k per week wage Young (contract expires summer 2016) - 118k per week wage Evans (contract expires summer 2016) - 65k per week wage Smalling (contract expires summer 2016) - 60k per week wage Powell (contract expires summer 2016) - 10k per week wage Rooney (contract expires summer 2019) - 300k per week wage RvP (contract expires summer 2016) - 250k per week wage Fellaini (contract expires summer 2018) - 80k per week wage Nani (contract expires summer 2018) - 115k per week wage Will Keane (contract expires summer 2015) Possible departures (which I would personally rather keep): Fletch (contract expires summer 2015) - 70k per week wage Pea (contract expires summer 2016) - 88k per week wage (I would keep him if he can get a bit more regular football in Madrid and decides to give us another chance, since we might be short in strikers come end of the season with not many quality targets out there available) Rafael (contract expires summer 2016) - 60k per week wage Jones (contract expires summer 2016) - 50k per week wage Biggest challenge that we're facing is extending the contracts of our players which expire this summer, especially the high profile youngster: James Wilson Andreas Pereira Patrick McNair Koe Rothwell Ben Pearson James Weir Callum Evans Michael Carrick

Big chance to build a team for the long term by replacing them. IF they have buyers it would greatly free up wages, should get a decent fee and also opportunity to replace them with more talented and hungry youngsters

That's probably equal, if not bigger, then Real Madrid's first 11 wage bill. Staggering really.

Was just thinking that Becks and Ronaldo, two players who've taken a bit of stick at times for all their off-field activities and fame, were still two of the hardest working players we've ever seen at United. Unfortunately some of these young lads want the off-field fame without putting the work in where it matters.

I'd trade mata in for griezmann. A winger? With this clusterfuck of formations and squad selection?

If we want top 4 we need a CB, a right back (If Raf isnt getting picked/ injured), and a top midfielder.
