There is a hot women thread, where such things are said, but because these are footballers, it's not o.k? Actresses etc are fine, but footballers..nope Not saying I agree with it, but people getting all high n' mighty about it is a bit naff.

Not sure why the referees get medals. Because they have to work their way up from the smallest games, training for years, and getting to ref in the World Cup is a big honor, and then getting to ref the Final is the biggest honor there is. Without refs, there's no game. I get it. But I don't get it.

I take the point, but give over. Many other people haven't been getting the point, though. We all understand/agree that there are a lot of hot women playing in the World Cup. That's a given. We can even say which ones are our favorites, sure why not. Then let's talk about the football. Five pages of people going "phroar, I'd do her" or something is a bit lame in 2015. I did both, ok mentioned how hot some were more than the actual football but hey, I'm a bloke. It happens. From the games I did see the standard of the football wasn't what I'd call great so I featured the next best thing.

To rectify this issue and to stop people from getting their "panties in a twist"... This quality of football is epic. I also do not rate these footballers' looks because they are sports people and nothing else.

I really, really like that stat, it bodes very well for the game here in the USA. For me the very best part is the nature of the Women's game.
For me the most difficult "sell" in talking to people about how much I love the game comes down to "How can you watch it, nothing happens", The women are very well drilled, and it is much easier to follow the ball and see what is happening because so much of what is going on is one touch passing. if one or 2 out of every 10 watched that and got a feel for the amount of skill and quality it takes to play at a high level, it is a great boost for the future of the game here.

Is it actually growing or does the interest peak in big matches?,

smithy2, We always get more 'bandwagon' fans during a major tournament, but it's only natural because tons of people are watching and talking about it, so the casual fan gets caught up in the excitement. But this is how the sport leap frogs into it's next fan base, including people playing the sport. It has been the number 1 girls played sport for three decade at a high level, this is why the USA women have three stars on their jersey. The women have less sports to select from, and more athletes playing soccer then any other, and they are getting very-very good at it. With this much excitement in the Women's World Cup, and all the young girls who were able to see what the game looks like played at a high level, we shall see another wave of women who are better then this current group...Well Done USA 2015....

Is it actually growing or does the interest peak in big matches?, TBH, given my time in the military and having had to deal with perceptions that people have of the US, I don't pay much attention to what anyone has to say one way or the other when lumping US into any specific group, be it fans or military people or whatever. Personally, I was often seriously pissed off at the people I served with and the way they conducted themselves in other people's homes (Countries) and for the most part, I lived off base, and spent the majority of my time when not working enjoying what the place I currently was calling home had to offer. I treated everywhere I went as my home, and enjoyed myself a great deal, and was treated with the same respect I showed others. There are bandwagons and plastics everywhere, I don't pay any attention to them. My view on life in general is that the best way to enjoy it is to enjoy the people you can, and treat the rest of them like you would a mosquito. Don't waste energy worrying bout them or chasing them around trying to wave at them, but if they happen to land directly on you, then it is time for a smackin I am a Manchester United fan, and a fan of Football, I enjoy watching any well played game, and appreciate the skill and professionalism of the great players. The people I know are pretty much of the same mindset, birds of a feather flocking together and all that stuff so I really couldn't say much about "US Fan" except the ones I personally know
