i watched the first half last night and for all the talk there are some players in both those teams that wouldn't have made some of the amateur teams i played for in ireland. japan play some nice football and they have a couple of cracking footballers, but there were a couple of players that when the ball got to them the move eventually broke down*. just like the men's game, england had some willing runners and showed a lot of heart but little technique. the goalkeeping standards remain shocking. *that being said you can apparently secure a £300k a week contract at united with qualities like this  ps: i don't mean this to sound scathing or anything. last night could have been the exception to the competition as a whole. i have after all only watched one half of the tournament. im aware that the US as a team/squad is more talented on average and remember the last final being extremely entertaining between US/Japan. |
