Tried searching for the thread, but couldn't find one.
The only excuse for not signing him would be having better targets in mind & being confident of signing them. He has confirmed that he wants to leave Southampton & the realistic targets are United & Arsenal. With Coquelin fitting in nicely into the role at Arsenal with Flamini as back up, I don't think they would go aggressively for him. Carrick best days are behind him & Morgan S wouldn't have much competition in the role if he plays for us. So, inspite of the news flows suggesting that he is joining Arsenal, my bet would be otherwise.
This is either going to be a very short thread with Arsenal signing him soon or indeed a very exciting one, when he is on his way to OT. Hoping for the latter

Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has confirmed that he will be leaving Southampton in the coming days, with Manchester United a possible destination.
The 25 year old has been on the radar of a number Premier League clubs, with Arsenal and Tottenham also thought to be looking at the French midfielder.
This evening The Daily Telegraph confirmed that Manchester United had registered their interest in Schneiderlin, coincidentally coinciding with comments he made to French radio confirming that he will be leaving the South coast club.
Speaking to France Bleu Alsace at a community event for his former club Strasbourg, the midfielder is quoted as saying: “The negotiations are ongoing and should be completed in the coming days, hopefully before the resumption of pre-season training next week.”
This is the second summer in a row that Schneiderlin has been linked with a move away from St Mary’s, last summer he angrily took to Twitter to exclaim that his experience at Southampton had been ruined after the club blocked a move away, reportedly to Spurs. It then emerged that United had made a late enquiry about the star, but were told firmly that he was not for sale.
Now they may be about to get their man if they can beat Arsenal to his signature although the London club are thought to value him at £18m and are refusing to budge especially as they have Francis Coquelin already in the squad.

Manchester United have joined Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in registering their interest in Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin although any bid is likely to depend on their progress with other midfield targets. Louis van Gaal has made recruiting a right-footed central midfielder a transfer priority this summer and, with Paul Pogba likely to join Barcelona or Manchester City, is pursuing Germany World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger. Schneiderlin is also on the club’s radar although Southampton are yet to have any formal bid for a player who they are willing to sell but value at around £25 million. Schneiderlin was made to stay at Southampton last summer despite pushing to join Tottenham but an understanding was struck that he could potentially then leave this year. Arsenal were strongly interested in January and, after another excellent season, Schneiderlin now wants to join a club in the Champions League rather than Tottenham. Arsene Wenger, however, has not rushed in with a bid, presumably due to a combination of the asking price, the central midfield emergence of Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere’s strong return from injury. It leaves an opportunity for United but the club are exploring several midfield options. Another major unknown for Southampton in this transfer window is whether they will succeed with a bid to keep Atletico Madrid centre-back Toby Alderweireld following his loan spell at the club. To their advantage is the clause that would force Atletico to pay them between £2 million and £3 million should he be sold to another club, such as Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur.
the club are exploring several midfield options.
who are they thats what i would like to know obviously one of them is Bastian

Have a feeling this will be a very short-lived thread, with a pretty disappointing ending.

James Ducker from the Times says we're in pole position to sign him. Not quite the same as saying we are actually in for him though...IMO, if we say we want him and make a bid then we will get him...but we need to make a bid first...forget Schweiny, even though I'd love to have him...focus on getting this one done... ...#nojinx...

I'm reading that the odds of him going to Arsenal have been slashed from 5/1 to 1/2...however, how many times have we been odds on to sign a player and nothing has come of it?
Sneijder, Garay, Coentrao etc...
Just trying to throw in a ray of hope...

...#nojinx... It is widely believed that Schneiderlin is being chased by three clubs: Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham. On Wednesday, Schneiderlin said: “The negotiations are ongoing and should be completed in the coming days, hopefully before the resumption of [Southampton’s pre-season] training next week.” The bookies immediately slashed odds on Schneiderlin joining Arsenal, who are considered the favourites by many pundits. Whilst we can probably discount Spurs, due to their lack of Champions League football, there seem to be a few signs suggesting that Manchester United are in fact in pole position. The Secret Footballer on Twitter announced last night that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had in fact “gradually convinced himself to not do a deal”. See the Tweets below. The Secret Footballer, believed to be Dave Kitson, formerly of Stoke and Portsmouth, often produces transfer gossip on Twitter. Meanwhile, in The Times today, one of the best and most reliable sources for transfer gossip, Matt Hughes writes that Manchester United are favourites to sign Morgan Schneiderlin. See a snippet of the article in question below.

I can't read the report but it's a fairly clear inference that we're in for him if we're in pole position. You hardly manoeuvre yourself into that position if you don't want a player.
