Manchester United could announce the signing of Matteo Darmian from Torino as early as tonight according to reports in Italy on Thursday evening. TMW are carrying claims from Sky Italia that contracts have arrived in Turin from Manchester United. It's not further explained from there as to whether those contracts have been sent electronically or are hard copies with a representative from Manchester United but as long as they get signed it probably doesn't matter.
TMW say that the only thing left to do is put the signatures on those contracts and then the transfer can be announced, therefore they reckon that if Manchester United and Torino wish to they could announce the deal has been agreed as early as this evening. That sounds like quite a rush to us but transfers have been announced late at night previously - and not just on transfer deadline day!
The feeling in the Italian media changed yesterday to an acceptance that the transfer was agreed and Torino clubs news website Torino Granata published a gushing open letter saying goodbye to the player, at that point it became pretty clear that a move would be happening for the Italian international - barring any last minute hitches or problems with the medical.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio updated just before midnight that Torino had indeed signed the contract and Darmian would fly to Manchester from Milan at just after 8am on Friday morning.
