Looks to be something happening here imminently. sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/darmian-to-accept-man-united-move-on-4-year-deal-at-48k-per-week--- Darmian to accept Man United move on 4 year deal at £48k per week -- Turin newspaper Tuttosport on Tuesday have a big feature on the potential transfer of Matteo Darmian to Manchester United. The Italian defender is on holiday until mid July but Tuttosport say his agents have been working on a move to Manchester United. Tuttosport reckon that the Premier League club have made an offer which Darmian simply cannot refuse. The Italian is currently paid around €700k per year by Torino, a figure likely to be after tax. Tuttosport say that Manchester United will more than triple that to €2.5m per year, also likely to be after tax, and that works out to be around £48k per week. Even with the tax added it wouldn't be a huge wage for Manchester United but such is the gulf in finances between the two clubs, Tuttosport say it makes Darmain and his agents happy to take such an offer and that it's logical it will be accepted. With that done, the next stage is for Manchester United to convince Torino to sell. The Italian club want €20m and that's more than reasonable for the 25 year old Italian international, but the English club are still trying to do things for less with an offer of €12m plus a further €3m in bonuses. The two sides are expected to get close enough for a deal to be done, but Tuttosport really see no rush on this issue with Darmian still being on his holidays. Lazio and Roma are two other clubs stated as being interested in Darmian but Torino want a cash offer and that's likelier from Manchester United. Tuttusport think a transfer is very likely and headline their piece 'Towards Farewell - Darmian goes - covered in gold', with the reference to gold showing just how good they think the wages on offer from Manchester United are. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Tuesday morning that Torino had requested €18m plus a further €2m in bonuses from Manchester United and it looked like the English club would go for that with further talks expected today... Torino waiting for Manchester United's final answer on that proposal.

This would be the best gif ever if the train ended up Old Trafford.

This goes a long way to seeing the transfer procedure under Ed. 2 days ago, this wasn't even heard of. All of a sudden, a signing is on the verge of happening. Anything written in the paper must be ignored until proven as correct (Granted, this still sounds like paper talk until it goes through - sounds like its on though)
Nobody can really claim they know anything about this lad unless they are a Torino regular. The signs are good though. Italian international. Played against England at the World Cup last year. Good age. Flexible. 5 goals in all competitions last season, 4 assists. This is for a Torino team who will defend for most of the time. In a better team, he could shine.

Well, if you have BT Sport and can watch the Serie A ...
(Alright, so I have maybe seen Torino six times over 90 minutes, and that's because they were playing Juve/someone else. I never saw Torino to watch Torino.)

In our part of the world we have separate channels which broadcast German, Italian & even French Leagues. Though the quality of coverage is not great, I try to catch a glimpse of players in positions we are in need of or are linked with.

I watched a few Valencia games once we started getting linked to Otamendi for example. I've only seen Darmian a few times, when he played for Italy. I noticed him during the World Cup, particularly against England when he butchered England's left. Saw a few more of their games, he looked good. But haven't seen a minute of him playing for Torino. But first choice Italian international defenders usually come with a decent guarantee.

www.fourfourtwo.com/features/why-torinos-raging-bull-could-have-pick-clubs-england-and-spainFrom 29th April. Strengths It's easy to note Darmian’s versatility as a major strength in his game. He's featured in both wing-back roles of Torino’s 3-5-2 formation, and done the same as a more orthodox full-back during the World Cup. He has also filled in as a central defender for the Azzurri in Antonio Conte’s three-man backline, but the biggest factor has been his incredible consistency no matter where he has been deployed. Averaging 2.6 tackles and 1.6 interceptions per game this season, Darmian has proven adept at halting opposition attacks and is always diligent in his defensive duties before venturing forwards. When his side is in possession, the 25-year-old is comfortable either running at his man with the ball or making an intelligent pass to a better-placed team-mate. He has improved in front of goal where, having netted just twice in his entire career before this season, 2014/15 has seen him score four times, with two coming in his first European campaign. Despite being just under 6ft tall, Darmian is also very good in the air, and has won 55% of the duels he has contested.

Started tracking him since last September, when I started getting resigned to the fact that LvG doesnt rate Rafael and good (available?) RB's were limited. Enjoyed watching him especially in the Europa league, where he was excellent in the important games when it mattered the most.
