Anyone know where the original is....it's not on the Torino website. Bryan Swanson @skysports_bryan 3m3 minutes ago We're told Manchester United finalising deal for Torino defender Matteo Darmian. Just under £13m. Not signed yet. #MUFC #SSNHQ
If that fee is correct Ed has done well.

I would just like to say wrt earlier 'spats' on here - guys, please take a chill pill...really...I sometimes wonder where we get off having a pop at each other for knowing or not knowing who a certain player is...
I'll admit it...I hadn't heard much of Darmian particularly before it seemed we were interested - so shoot me...I do not make a habit of watching every league and appreciate the input from those who do but whether you watch all the leagues or not it doesn't warrant abuse from anyone (yes, even mods)...so relax guys as I think we are going into a period of transfer activity - at last...

www.football365.com/faves/9906781/Matteo-Darmian-The-Right-Option-For-Louis-Van-GaalIt goes without saying that right-back was a problem position for Manchester United last season. Louis van Gaal failed to adequately strengthen last summer, meaning he was forced to play Antonio Valencia out of position. The Ecuador international didn't necessarily under-perform over the 2014/15 campaign - his WhoScored.com rating (7.23) was the joint-sixth best at United - a figure level with Ashley Young. However, it's evident that Valencia is a winger shoehorned in at right-back, a square peg in a round hole. With Rafael now confirmed as being surplus to requirements, it's no surprise Van Gaal is keen to strengthen. Nathaniel Clyne was reportedly high on the Dutchman's wish list, but his move to Liverpool forced the United boss to look elsewhere. Their pursuit of Clyne came as little shock. Only Nemanja Matic (129) made more tackles than the Southampton defender (115) in the Premier League last season. However, with Clyne moving elsewhere, Matteo Darmian has emerged as United's primary right-back target. The Italian is capable of playing anywhere across the back four and as a wing-back, which suits Van Gaal's needs perfectly. Darmian's versatility means he can slot into a three-man defence when needs must, should Van Gaal explore this option in the upcoming campaign. He recorded 2.6 tackles and 1.3 interceptions per league game for Torino last season, a return not to be sniffed at. While lower than Valencia (2.9 and 1.9, respectively, when starting at right-back), Darmian's defensive expertise will be a welcome boost to this United team. Offensively, though, fans should not expect many marauding runs from deep. An average of 0.8 dribbles per game suggests the Italy international is not as comfortable on the ball as other possible United targets, instead looking to simply give possession to his teammates. He did manage 1.2 key passes per game though, an indication of his eye for a defence-splitting pass. Importantly, Darmian offers a different option to Valencia at right-back. He is not going to break forward at any given opportunity but his defensive discipline stands him in better stead than other potential full-backs United were linked with. That (and the asking price) is perhaps the reason why United did not pursue their rumoured interest in Seamus Coleman and Fabinho. Those two are both excellent at fulfilling their offensive responsibilities, but their defensive works leaves much to be desired. Coleman completed more successful dribbles (117) than any other Premier League defender in the last two seasons, while in Ligue 1 only two defenders completed more successful dribbles than Fabinho (48). Given Van Gaal has Valencia at his disposal, the last thing he needs is a right-back who is similar to the current incumbent. With that in mind, a move for Darmian makes perfect sense given the options in the market. Van Gaal will have two alternate players to fill the void in the defence, while Darmian's ability to play anywhere across defence aids United. Furthermore, his impending capture provides further competition to Luke Shaw and allows Daley Blind to focus on honing his game in midfield. Ben McAleer

You were the one being condescending because I hadn't heard of Darmian. I was making the point that we're not all football hispters like you and other people also said they hadn't heard of him. Head out of ass mate. My original point was because of your ennui-filled post about 'not getting excited about a player I hadn't heard of a month ago' Which seemed to be part of your greater crusade against hipsters. Or as they are also known, fans. Football is supposed to be an interest, something you enjoy like movies, books or music. But your 'uber-red' attitude of only having time for Utd is basically the same as only watching Horror movies or exclusively buying Beatles records. It was just a normal reply to Bestie asking why we weren't more excites about Darmian. I suspect it's probably the same for several athers judging by the comments since. Let's move on
