Apparently the reason for Ben Arfa only being on the reserve list is because of attitude problems and past clashes with Deschamps, despite his wonderful form this season.
Can't believe Lacazette is only on the reserve list too. Gignac has been banging the goals in this season but in the shitty Mexican league for Tigres. His international record is crap, 7 goals in 24 games.
Seems to me like there's a shit load of favouritism in that squad rather than picking based on actual form and talent. Then again it's not too much different for many other international squads. So often players are picked because they're a managerial favourite rather than based on their club form.

Lacazette has hardly been suffering a drought either. We should sign him already.

Really looking forward to the Euros for a change, Can't wait to see our (United, not England) players play without VG's Leash around their collective necks, it's been too long.

Deschamps makes some weird calls for sure. How Laporte doesn't have a cap I will never know.

Who will make the final 23?
England Euro 2016 squad Posted at 11:11 Here is that 26-man provisional squad in full. Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, Fraser Forster, Tom Heaton. Defenders: Nathaniel Clyne, Kyle Walker, Gary Cahill, Chris Smalling, John Stones, Ryan Bertrand, Danny Rose. Midfielders: Dele Alli, Ross Barkley, Fabian Delph, Eric Dier, Danny Drinkwater, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, James Milner, Raheem Sterling, Andros Townsend, Jack Wilshere. Strikers: Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge, Jamie Vardy. 'Rashford has a great future'
England Euro 2016 squad Posted at 11:11 England manager Roy Hodgson: "When we were thinking how many players were wanted, there was uncertainty over Jack Wilshere and Jordan Henderson, both are medically fit and it was better to add players to the squad. I am making life harder for myself by naming 26 which has to be reduced to 23. "Danny Welbeck's injury did disrupt my plan because it is about balancing the team. We had a very good qualification campaign and you don;t want to lose players from it. We will miss the options he gives us. "Marcus Rashford is one of the contenders. Competition is strong and he deserves to be selected for the main squad but I am pleased someone who has had an outstanding end to the season has a great future. He will have the chance to knock someone off their perch." www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/35944824

3 CB's, two of whom have been dreadful for most of the season? Looks like Mike will have to go full metal jacket for England all summer!

Stray thoughts in the squad:
Three CBs is very ballsy. I know pople say Dier can be cover, but I'd have him playing every game so he's not much of an effective backup.
4 full backs is unnecessary, especially when Smalling and Stones can be emergency backup at RB. He just couldn't decide whether to drop Clyne or Walker (I would drop Clyne personally).
The midfield selections show what a dire talent pool we have in certain positions. Lallana, Townsend and Milner have had 6 good months after about 2 years of being shit and yet they all get in.
Henderson should absolutely not be going. I would barely take him if he were fit considering he has never once had a good game for England, but with his injury there should be no place for him.
On Wilshere I oscillate, because whilst he's played less than 1% of Arsenal's season, he has at least had very good games for England in recent memory. I'd probably take him mainly because of a lack of other options.
Hodgson has done well with Rashford - get him to meet the squad, see what its like and maybe play a friendly, but (assumedly) don't take him to the actual tournament.

Yup . Hodgson shows yet again why he's a fraud. He has taken Henderson and left out Noble. Unbelievable.

In the same way that a 'Martial has been excellent recently' post could be in the Martial thread or the preview thread for the next match.
