I like him as well, and think he is a very good keeper. He sometimes looks a bit awkward in his movements, but he has very good instinctive reactions, and an excellent attitude.
I think what he says about the coaching is spot on as well, at the professional level, championship teams have great managers, and those managers have excellent staff working with them. No way can one man handle the massive responsibilities that a club like United imposes. He needs a very good staff working for him.

I like Romero, I'm not aware of him having complained once since being here. But then I guess he knew when he joined that De Gea was undisputed No.1 and he'd likely spend most of his time on the bench.
Strange really because he could easily be No.1 at so many other clubs, but I guess most would be paying a bit less... not too sure about that when you think back to what happened last year with de gea and the fax machine.

He's a good back up, never good enough to be number 1. Maybe give him one more season then promote one of the young lads to back up and let him go.

ROMERO SIGNS NEW CONTRACT AT UNITED
Manchester United is delighted to announce that Sergio Romero has signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until June 2021, with the option to extend for a further year.
Romero, 30, joined the club in July 2015. The Argentinian World Cup finalist made his debut on 27th August 2015 and has gone onto make 28 appearances for the club, with the most recent being the UEFA Europa League final victory over AFC Ajax in Stockholm.
Sergio Romero said:
“I am delighted to have signed a new contract. Who wouldn’t want to be at the biggest club in the world? We have great goalkeepers here and we are always learning from each other. Of course, it was a very proud moment for me and my family to be part of the Europa League final, and I am looking forward to helping the team build on last season’s success in 2017/18.”
José Mourinho said:
“Sergio is a great goalkeeper and professional. He had a good season and outstanding performances, especially in our Europa League success. Sergio deserves his contract, and for Manchester United to have Sergio and David is amazing in such an important role.”

Finding himself in a similar situation to Raimond van der Gouw, like Rai he is a great pro and I'm delighted he's signed up with us. If DDG stays I don't expect him to get many CL starts so hope he has the majority of the domestic cup games, including Wembley if we reach a final again.

Stats have revealed statistically the best goalkeeper in Manchester United’s history, and it will most certainly surprise you.
Through the years the Red Devils have had some of the best goalkeepers in the world. From Peter Schmeichel to Edwin Van Der Sar and David De Gea.
All world class goalkeepers, however none of them are statistically the best to stand between the sticks for United.
That honour goes to Sergio Romero. The Argentine number one put in an impressive performance as United beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge. He made some key saves but after the game a surprising stat emerged.
United’s latest win was Romero’s 28th clean sheet in 43 appearances, meaning he remained unbeaten in a whopping 65.1 percent of his outings. This is better than any other United keeper who has played more than three games for the Red Devils.
Although Romero has only played seven games in the Premier League, with the majority of his appearances coming in the FA Cup and in Europe, this season he has kept two clean sheets from his three appearances.
David De Gea‘s clean sheet percentage has been rather disappointing but that is largely down to the poor defending in front of him.
Not for a second would anyone assume Romero is better than De Gea but this is still a startling statistic for the Argentinian.
It reiterates the fact that many believe Manchester United have the best goalkeeper and back up goalkeeper in the world.

It was 'only' a Gallardo - a superleggera mind but it was time for an upgrade anyway.
