37 goals in 163 games. Pass not a great record but wouldn't rule him out only on that. i've no idea what kind of player he is. if he's a good hold up/run the channels player that can bring others into play i wouldn't mind considering him. i don't think we necessarily need a prolific striker with our midfield. we definitely need a forward to link play.

We need a striker who will actually play as a striker.

Sounds like an Over-hyped Arsenal youth player about to make the 'jump' to the first team.

Given our severe lack of goals scored, i would have thought that the first, nee only, attribute that would matter, would be a striker that scores goals. Whats next? Signing a keeper who doesn't make saves?

No, but it's usually a good place to start. Which is why you replace him with a striker that does score goals. Not another one who doesn't and then hope that the other players make up for it.

Our current first choice striker is both shite and non-prolific. If we get someone who is either shite, but prolific, or not shite and is prolific, maybe we get some leverage to drop Rooney.

Should be fairly easy to replace Rooney, as crazy as it sounds, I still wonder if there isn't some contractual "paragraph" that guarantees that spud with ears an armband and starting role. Surely if there is something like that then it would have some performance guarantees in it. IF there is some kind of agreement in place then would have to hope that Rooney is pretty much hanging right on the edge of getting benched for someone that can contribute more to the club than he does. Should not be difficult to find someone that can manage that.
