So I'm gloating to my Liverpool supporting colleague (as one does) after they lost to Palace last night. And he says to me "at least my manager is not under pressure, unlike yours."
I replied "We won. Mine's under pressure because we're playing ugly football. He's still not losing, though."
He says: "Never thought a United fan would ever be happy with an ugly win."
I said: "I'm absolutely not! Top of our group in the UCL, in the EPL Top 4 with a really good defensive record. I'm sure your lot would take that, but we're complaining because we've seen glimpses that show this team is capable of better. "
After sending that message I reread it, and started to wonder if all of us, the Scholeses and the Kanchelskis that complain about LVG's style are not just being a bunch of ingrates. He's doing well, what's our gripe?

Alright I'll bite. My gripe is and has been not putting out the proper starting 11 in too many matches. When we hang out our best player in martial out on the wing, then when we finally stop 20 uninspiring passes and finally get him the ball, he is expected to beat half the defense and make everything happen. Taking out Martial as the first sub, and causing the fans to boo LvG should have been a stark warning, it was not against the players, but on him for reducing the team of its most deadly player. Possession football without a attacking thrust is boring ass mid table stuff, and not what UTD have become know for. We have better quality then that, and look no further then the bench with guys like Herrera-Pereria sitting on their ass waiting for a chance to make a difference in the matches. Yet we continue to see a manacle desire to play Rooney no matter what, and bringing in Memphis when we need more doesn't help LvG's case. In closing LvG is not close to being sacked, but he needs to show that he can inspire creativity, and live up to his own fitness and form demands on ALL players.... |
