Man United offer expected for South American striker, huge news in Italy
Edinson Cavani being the latest star of the rumour mill was easy to predict, and we did so yesterday. French newspaper L'Equipe ran an article explaining PSG were getting a bit fed up with the striker's attitude, and claimed his future wasn't as secure as previously.
It was inevitable there'd be a new batch of rumours, and we said: 'For the first time in a while, we haven’t had a transfer window filled with weekly articles concerning Paris Saint-Germain’s striker Edison Cavani, but that could be about to change.
The Uruguayan international is, according to L’Equipe on Monday, the cause of a bit of discontent within the French club’s personnel, as Cavani has failed to impress with his performances in recent months.'
Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport certainly haven't let us down. Their Tuesday edition has Cavani plastered over the front page and, naturally, covers a potential transfer from an Italian perspective.
The big problem for Italian clubs is interest from the Premier League, and Corriere dello Sport say Juventus and Inter Milan 'will have to beat the offers of United, City and Chelsea'.
Manchester United are the most linked club in France and in December it was claimed by L'Equipe that the club had approached PSG about a transfer, getting a negative response. Should that approach be made again then a different response could be given.
Cavani turns 29 years of age on Valentine's Day. He's moody, frustrated that his talents aren't in a bigger league, and appears to have something to prove. At €30m to €40m (Corriere dello Sport's price bracket), he'd be an expensive ageing striker who could turn out to be a huge waste of money... or a wonder who could do a Robin van Persie and help Manchester United win the league.
