Spain's El Confidencial last week came forward with some pretty confident claims about Jose Mourinho and Manchester United. They stated Mourinho had signed some kind of outline agreement to manage the Premier League club, and take over from Louis van Gaal. It wasn't certain when Mourinho would take over at Manchester United, with the club prepared to see how things developed between now and the summer. On Wednesday, El Confidencial report that things have taken a step forward on urgency. It's claimed that Jorge Mendes is arranging the final details via his London offices, with lawyers working on a 'maze of clauses' that will be included in a deal tying Mourinho to Manchester United until 2019. Things are being finalised and resolved, and it sounds like, once the lawyers have done their bit, there's nothing in the way of announcing the deal, should Manchester United wish to. Mourinho will be paid €20m per year for taking over at Old Trafford, say El Confidencial, which would put him on less than Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. Again, there's no definitive date of takeover set out, but that is likely to depend upon the club and circumstance. El Confidencial have a history of getting there first, and a history of scoops, and we've been impressed for years, especially with their Real Madrid exclusives and insightful reporting of situations. MARTIAL RESPONDS TO PSG SPECULATION
Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with a move for Anthony Martial this summer as a replacement for the outgoing Zlatan Ibrahimovic but the French striker insists he is concentrating on helping Manchester United get back to the top.
When asked if the move interested him, he said: "They [Manchester United] are not at the top at the moment, but I hope that next year they will be."
