Devastated, Bowie has died. Legend gets thrown around right left and centre nowadays, well David was just that. A bona fide legend. RIP Star man.

Same, my old man just text me an hour ago to tell me. Saw the opening line saying "One of my heroes David Bowie has died" and thought it was gonna be some stupid joke. Put the news on and saw that it's true. Speechless.

Seen that when I got up early this morning, could not believe it. I even woke the wife up and told her and she was shocked. RIP Bowie, you go back to the days when I was courting the wife back in Germany in my army days in the early 70's.

Sat down in work and saw "Not Bowie!". Honestly thought it was a mate of mine complaining about Bowie's new album. I only saw the ad for it for the first time last night.
Gutted. Legend.

Saw David live when I lived in Detroit in my teens. It was during his Diamond Dogs tour, don't remember a lot about the concert (cough-cough), but always loved his music. The guy was bending mainstream ideas about music and lifestyles back when it took real guts to do what he did....RIP.

I couldn't get away with Bowie personally when I was younger. I remember having a chat once with someone who told me that no matter who you are you will one day reach a point in your life where you hear a Bowie track on the radio and think "yeah Bowie is fucking great". I was like "aye, whatever" at the time, but I did eventually reach that point.
I think in an industry where everything is short lived and throwaway, there's something to be said for someone who can reinvent their image and sound as many times as he did and remain popular. One of a kind.

My first ever gig was Bowie at Maine road, 1987. Great show and really introduced me to live music, which I've always preferred over recorded stuff. Really sad day for music.

Bowie was the ultimate musical chameleon. I'd say that there's a song in his back catalogue for everyone. I was listening to Blackstar last night before bed and woke up to this. Shocked and saddened in equal measure.

What a legend! Musical chameleon who stayed relevant and cutting edge for nearly 50 years. I wasn't a huge Bowie fan in high school, but then I had that moment that Kojak mentions above and suddenly re-evaluated everything Bowie. I had a girlfriend who loved Bowie and the 80s stuff just made it hard to listen to him. But I came around. I came around and got my head straight and got right with Zeus. The entire period from 1969-1980 is an incredible run, maybe matched only by the Beatles: Space Oddity, The Man Who Sold The World, Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station To Station, Heroes, Low, Lodger, Scary Monsters - hard to pick a single favorite album. Can't believe he's gone. The new album is pretty good, btw, streaming on Amazon Prime.

David showed me what artistry was when I was a young kid, Ziggy Stardust remains one of my favorite of all time.
Lazarus is like being taken back to the day when Ziggy was rockin on the 8 track with the reverb lights, and we were trashed and thinking that this was as good as it ever got.
Listened to Lazarus again. (Wife sent it to me, found it when I got up) That was damn sure Bowie saying good-bye. Blackstar is a brilliant album I'll have to find it in vinyl.
Fly Blue Bird! RIP Ziggy Stardust, your light will always shine for me and mine. Thanks for the memories.
Lazarus released on the 7th, Blackstar released on the 8th. The man went out as he introduced himself to this young dude, with brilliance.
