The state of Dutch football makes me sad. Look at that line up. I mean, it's not awful, there are some good players, but this is a country that used to have Van Basten, Gullit, Cruyff, Bergkamp, Seedorf, Davids, Stam, RVN, Overmars, Kluivert, etc, etc, etc. Now it's an over the hill Sneijder, on his last legs Robben, and, well, very little else.

The Netherlands' downward spiral continued with a catastrophic 4-0 World Cup qualifying defeat to France in Paris on Thursday night but debutant Timothy Fosu-Mensah impressed at the Stade de France.
Manchester United youngster Fosu-Mensah, who joined Crystal Palace on a season-long loan last month, played 90 minutes for the Oranje and produced three goal-saving tackles during the shellacking. The 19-year-old made more tackles than any other player.
"It’s a special day, but unfortunately not with the desired result," Fosu-Mensah said. "I think the French were just a cut above us. I can not say I’m shocked, but it’s just a shame that it ran out.
"I am very grateful to the coach for the confidence he has shown in me. I heard on the matchday that I would play. I was very happy and will always be grateful to Dick Advocaat for this opportunity."
Jose Mourinho indicated last month he would attempt to reinforce the United squad next year with a player who 'allows me to play with three at the back and have a wing-back' and Fosu-Mensah has played in a back three with Palace so far this season.
Paul Pogba lined up for France and almost scored in the second-half, while Daley Blind played the full 90 at left-back for the Dutch.

How'd the lad get on last night? he was netherlands best player.was very very solid against the likes of lemar and mbappe.faultless for the goals and some incredible tackles.could have scored towards the end. only bright spot in an otherwise shambolic netherlands team |

Aye. I've always felt he was going to be a central midfielder in the future like many but seeing how good he was last night at right back made me think he could be a long term replacement for Valencia there. He's a bit of a machine, very much like Valencia.

He's a bit of a machine, very much like Valencia. same here.would have loved to see him in central midfield and he hasnt put a foot wrong at right back. reminds me a bit of valencia.very powerful and can make up lots of ground with his long legs and an oustanding tackler of the ball,likes going forward. that last minute tackle in the first half last night and the one on mbappe were truly amazing. the kid seems to have everything to be valencias replacement for years to come |

I was getting frustrated as he only played once over 5 weeks but he started last two palace games so hopefully he gets a bunch more.
