Eric Bailly chose Manchester United over Man City because Jose Mourinho ‘was the one who really wanted him’. The 23-year-old became the Portuguese's first signing at Old Trafford following his £30m move from Villarreal in June. Bailly has been a big hit with Reds fans ever since and has earned favourable comparisons with former skipper Nemanja Vidic . But the Ivorian could have been playing for the club's noisy neighbours in Thursday's Manchester derby - had it not been for Mourinho's personal touch. "I was in the Ivory Coast, I got called from a Portuguese number, he introduced himself but I just didn’t believe it at first," he told The Mirror . "Before I came to Man United, it was City who had been watching me. In my mind, I was going there. But then everything changed. "It felt like Mourinho was the one who really wanted me. He showed more interest, he rang me and that’s why I’m at Man United. "Man City contacted my agent, Barcelona as well were talking to my agent, but they weren’t as interested in me as Mourinho. He really pushed for the move. "Of course the club is important when you sign, but the manager is so important. If a player feels like the manager wants you, wants to sign you, it gives you extra motivation." www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-transfer-news-bailly-12950897

Great video. He just leaves a trail of destruction and despair in his wake. Calculated violence.
He's got to be a bit careful at times though , that's for certain.

That's excellent news, thank you for the update! Should be better for the footballers and for the competition as a whole. And we keep the Great Wall of Ivory Coast on his rhythm. He wasn't the same for quite a few games after the competition.

YOU MISERABLE UEFAN FUCKS.
UEFA said Monday July 24, 2017 that Manchester United defender Eric Bailly is suspended from the Super Cup game against Real Madrid and a Champions League group-stage game. UEFA's disciplinary panel imposed a three-match ban for violent conduct after Bailly was sent off late in Man United's Europa League semifinal, second-leg game against Celta Vigo in May. (AP Photo/Dave Thompson/File) Dave Thompson/Associated Press Manchester United defender Eric Bailly will not feature in the UEFA Super Cup match against Real Madrid, as his European suspension for violent conduct has been pushed to three matches.
Per the Daily Mirror's David McDonnell and Alex Richards, the Ivory Coast international was sent off in the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League against Celta Vigo. While he was originally banned for just the final of the tournament, he'll now also miss the Super Cup and United's UEFA Champions League opener.
Dave Thompson/Associated Press Bailly emerged as United's top option in central defence last year, as he was the rock manager Jose Mourinho built his team around. He lost his cool in the match against Celta Vigo, however, getting sent off late for an incident with John Guidetti.
Fortunately for the Red Devils, his absence didn't hurt them in the Europa League final, as they triumphed over Ajax. That win saw them book a spot in the Super Cup and Champions League, forcing the UEFA to take another look at the incident and issue an additional suspension.
The timing of the added suspension, months after the incident and the Europa League final, was a little odd. Betting company Paddy Power couldn't help but make a joke:
United will face Real Madrid on August 8, while the draw and schedule for the Champions League have yet to be made.
