i know its still like 2 weeks until the first manchester derby with mourinho and guardiola at helm. but until the offical match talk thread gets opened, i`d like to hear your guys opinion.
i`m really pumped up already for the game and i hate the international break. but i got no idea what to expect from the game vs city. both teams are more or less in the same situation with a new manager, players and system. i can see us winning it by 2 or 3 goals but at the same time i can see us loosing it that way. its just so hard to predict at this stage of both teams progress. could be just the form on the day or one moment of luck or brilliance deciding it in the end.
what you guys think or expect how mourinho will field us up? i was thinking about the system we played against southampton last week. eventhough it was a home game we had like what, 43% possession? southampton even had more attempts but just one on target. we were clinical and the win was never in danger. playing the same system could be extremely dangerous against city, they have some class players who can break down a good defence. i may be wrong but i had a feeling that mourinho was trying two big different tactics in most of our games so far. first half sitting deep, giving the opposition more of the ball, hoping for counter attacks. second half the team partly played high intensity pressing, forcing the others to make mistakes and punish it immediately.
i dont expect guardiola to change anything with his team, he`s gonna do what he always does, keeping the ball and possession. you think we`ll see an offensive united team? or pure counter attack? or changing in between them both at different stages of the game?
what about the starting eleven?
fellaini seems to have a serious injury and i guess it`ll keep him out for the derby. honestly i dont want to see carrick instead of him. the game is too important and carrick can be error prone from time to time, especially after not playing that much. herrera or schneiderlin it must be. i`ll go with herrera next to pogba, he`s faster and more agile than schneiderlin. but i really like schneiderlin, i`d like to see him get more chances to play and find back to his form from southampton days.
its so difficult on the wings aswell. for me, mkhitaryan should clearly start the game instead of mata. mata was good so far, mkhi aswell when called upon. but besides the fact that both players are really creative, mkhitaryan is much faster than mata. and i think we`ll need to add some speed to the wings. but there`s lingard aswell and the kids work rate is phenomenal
left side is the most difficult decision i think. i love martial and on his day you just can`t stop him, he`s able to create everything on his own. but his form so far hasn`t been the best and rashford deserves a start after the incredible impact he made against hull.
rooney wont be dropped as we know...
damn it! just bring them on!
