Trump has failed as a president by just about every way measurable. America’s standing internationally (apart from amongst our Daily Telegraph reading friends) is a shambles, the economy is in tatters, racially it’s divided almost to breaking point (which he exacerbated constantly) and his response to the pandemic was amongst the worst in the world. Even if he wasn’t an utter cunt, he’d deserve to lose tonight for all those reasons. But he is an utter cunt so fuck him. I hope he rots. Get ready for major disappointment..... I honestly can't believe what I am seeing. Maybe it's too early still, but the way it's gone, I am still stunned. Kenosha, which had the Jacob Blake shooting and unrest, voted 60+% Trump. Edit: On second thought, maybe I shouldn't be surprised...

I have said all along what really concerns me is not this election but the next President after this. Trump is a horrible idiot but Pence is actually dangerous.
The Democrats need to get off this track they have been on away from the reactionary virtue signalling to elect a nominee who can actually win over people like Kam.
Or the Republicans row back from their current path only they have the evidence of it succeeding so why should they.

Voted for Trump. Stop your judgements for a second because I am not a racist, white supremacist, uneducated, science and climate denier, sexist, bible thumping, whatever else gets attributed.. there’s many more like me. First generation American whose family came from a communist block, who feels the current trending ideologies and policies of the Democratic Party is not beneficial to the country, it’s people, and state of affairs here, therefor the Republican candidate is a better selection. Both extremes are awful. I could get behind someone like Tulsi Gabbard in the future. She’s not a typical progressive dem so they’ve already begun to ostracize her. Hey mate, would love for you to elaborate on this. Because the way I see it, Trump's presidency has been racially divisive, has empowered white supremacists, dialled back climate change research decades, openly endorsed climate change conspiracy theorists, pulled out of paris accord, dialled back women's rights and has shown to pander to evangelicals if it suits his agenda. So your statement that Biden isn't good for USA seems contradictory. I'm just asking, not having a go at you, cheers.

Evidently though based on the popular vote you are the minority in your country.

The more I look into this whole period in American history the more I realise everything is not quite as black and white as you might imagine. I watched a PBS documentary the other night called America's Great Divide and it charts the rise of this populist movement. It's very clear to me that those who voted for Trump have categorically rejected the elite liberal ruling class in America. It's every bit a protest vote. Trump could be caught strangling cats on a street corner and still be elected president by his supporters. When things defy logic, you have to take a step back and ask yourself what's going on? As you say, not every Trump voter is a knuckle dragging racist. One things for certain, white supremacists are not taking over America as some might proclaim. Obama's inability to deal with the 2008 crisis properly has in a large way contributed to the current political landscape. Instead of punishing those who caused the crisis, he bailed them out and in the process made them all a lot wealthier while America's working and middle class lost their homes and savings, and on top of that they were left with the bill. I fear history is repeating itself, economic decline, followed by civil unrest and then unfortunate conflict. America is not the only country going through this transition. The populist movement had a part to play in Brexit, the current political instability in Italy. Biden is one of the club and for that reason he's a leper to most Trump supporters and voters.

Trump has the lawyers working overtime, but luckily state governments and their apparatus' seem to want to firmly uphold the law and democracy in general. The irony of him asking for a recount in Wisconsin when he campaigned to stop counting altogether, is hilarious. Really hope Pennsylvania and Georgia are able to swing it the other way.

Trump is doing EVERYTHING he can to stay in office crying electoral fraud, threatening Supreme Court action-although on what basis? ,screaming for the counts to stop,so trying to disenfranchise millions of voters who mailed-in. He tweeted yesterday that when he went to bed he was ahead in most states, when he awoke Democrat votes had been “dumped” into the mix. He obviously does not understand that mail-in’s are often counted after on-the-day votes, which has inspired various Secretaries of States to have to appear in front of the cameras and explain the process-probably to stop riots etc ,which Trump would love. THE over-arching issues facing Trump and his family though would appear to be Manhattan’s DA , who has suggested investigating him and his organisation for alleged tax fraud if/when he leaves office. The Orange Al Capone! I’d definitely buy ringside seats for that one. On a side note, Rudi Giuliani ,who truly behaved in such a statesmanlike way as he led NYC through the aftermath of 9/11, has now lost all credibility, for me anyway.

Unequivocally THE most dishonest and lie-ridden speech yet delivered by Agent Orange in his time as President. Never have I ever witnessed news channels pull the plug on the US President making a live speech. The counting needs to be decisive and quick now. End this, before he has time to say any more lies.

I’m curious- how does your chosen candidate’s behaviour over the last 48 hours make you feel? The pathetic whining, the ridiculous conspiracy theories, the lack of anything approaching human dignity in the face of imminent defeat? Are you not ashamed? Or is this another one of his behaviours you are willing to ignore, like his race baiting and misogyny?

This is what bemuses me the most, he has taken the US to a borderline Banana Republic in a very short space of time. If this was a Central/South American country, it would be globally ridiculed.
