Sad news. His reputation suffered as England boss but he was a fine club coach. And he came across as a very decent bloke on the radio. RIP

My first live England game was when Taylor was in charge. Me and my brother were sat about 5 rows back and about 20 seats to the side of the England bench, and it was clear how passionate he was. Constantly up and down barking orders at the players. He wasn't the greatest England manager, but at least he gave a shit. I would take another Graham Taylor over another Fabio Capello.

A lot of people might not have liked him but he put his heart into football, RIP Graham.

Very nice man. Don't think anyone (outside the press) had a bad word to say about him.
The press treatment of him was diabolical.

Problem for Taylor as well was the fact everyone thought we were world beaters after 1990 but In truth that semi final finish was deceiving because we were actually quite shit in that tournament. Only scored 2 goals in the groups and narrowly beat Egypt. Cameroon took us to ET, Belgium took us within seconds of penalties and then we lost to a pretty average Germany. I mean the whole tournament wasn't great. Taylor comes in under Robson's Shadow with the media expecting a golden era. In truth he inherited a weak team defensively and players like Waddle/ Gary Linekar etc past their best.
