A little worrying how Dos Santos was gliding through our defense, not once but twice. Are we really doing this 352 thing?
We still need to work on corners in practice.
Enjoyed seeing A Pereira in action. Mkhi looked good. Pogba is going to have a great season, and the partnership with Lukaku should be incredible.

Been rather disappointed with Martial tbh. He's had a few sights at goal without ever looking like scoring. 1 goal and 1 assist is not that bad for one half. Probably not, but given the chances he blazed over, I'd have expected more. Harsh perhaps, but if we're going to increase our goal tally, he's got to bury the chances he had tonight. |

Did anyone else find it a little odd that Pereira seemed to be playing the deepest out of our midfielders in the second half?

definitely not adverse to 352 for us.
tony and you would expect shaw/young could easily play as wingbacks.
and we have the cb's for it, Pogba gets back into the 3 man mid and essentially you can play mata, mhiki or lingard as a 10 or play 2 strikers, there are options in the system.

If I'm being honest Lukaku looked exactly like the Lukaku I'd seen every time I saw Everton and people had said he was good. He was the same, no better, no worse. He's a big unit though. I don't expect Lukaku to improve after one week of being in the team. I think when the starting XI is in place Lukaku will operate well at the top as a traditional 9. It's almost impossible to read anything at all into anyone's performance tonight, the first friendly against the reserves of a team sitting in 8th place in the Western Conference of the MLS. It was a fun kickaround for everyone, and that's all that really matters, I guess. And I know weetomsligaments was being ironic, I almost made the same post but you know how irony reads on the 'net. The main takeaway from tonight's game was that those collars and the snap button thing look fucking stupid. |
