It was diabolical but it’s the usual from Mourinho in big games so I’m not sure why people were expecting it to be any different?
Very defensive with no creativity, movement or attacking threat. He won’t take any sort of risk and that’s why he’s generally done well in these games across his career as his teams essentially park the bus and hopefully nick a 1-0 win.
Will be the same until Mourinho leaves so get used to it!

A point at Anfield? Let's see how many swashbuckling performances the rest of the top 6 put in with 3 points in the bag there. No more than 2 imo. City always lose there. Always. It’s the reason they are where they are. They get giddy playing their cup finals, then normal service is resumed.

Looking at extended highlights this morning, the best bit of football in the whole game was the lead up to Lukaku’s chance. He takes that (as he bloody well should) and that’s one of the best team goals we’ve scored there in years.

From RAWK. Just a wee taster:
‘Well played Redmen. We play football. City are probs better than us atm. But those twats in grey are NOT May well be a race for second this season. My money is on us’

I guess I believed/hoped that Jose had enough faith in the team he assembled this season to play away games vs. title rivals and actually show some desire to win the game. I also think that to a certain degree, some of the confusion within the team yesterday had something to do with how differently we've approached the game compared to every other game so far this season.
Like several people said before though, Mourinho isn't going to change and I was wrong to think otherwise. His number one priority yesterday was not to lose and he achieved that, so I'm sure he went home smiling yesterday.

I'd rather we went and played to win (and end up losing) than play the way we did and come away with a point. I think we are better than them in every department, Coutinho aside (while Pogba is injured). I'd rather we had a blood-n-thunder match where it really is a breathless encounter and you feel that crazy electricity watching the game that's so intense you almost can't bear to watch. Instead, yeah, we got a point.

Yeah it's like some have forgotten what we've endured with the last two managers since Fergie left. We can't compete with city's money so Jose is still one of the best despite some of the Pep fan club arguing otherwise and that's not a dig at anyone on here by the way. He's still won feck all and even if he does then so he should considering the money that's been pumped into that club. No debt to pay either. Let his disciples blindly follow while I enjoy the Scouse tears because we didn't fall into their lap like some of the other saps like Arsenal do. I'd say that's not true and we shouldn't really be using money as any kind of excuse. Agree with the rest of your post, though. We can't though otherwise we would we investing more into our facilities, academy and ground. They can pay for private education for their young players and can bribe those players with incentives that we can't. We can't afford to cut our losses over failed transfers like they can. However we have the better manager who can at least compete with theirs. We are also having to undue many years of under investment in the squad while they were building up an empire. I couldn't care less either about their beautiful football it's all subjective anyway.

With spurs amd chelsea coming up now i realy hope we dont see them tactics again we should be playing to win not to not lose. Tbh im pretty disapointed in jose and not going there for the win they was there for the taking.
That sort of performance for me is what u expect at the end of the season when the title is close or a second leg in champs lg when we have a narrow lead.
In the bigger picture a draw isnt the worst result but city smashed these and dominated chelsea away. If we have any chance of the lg this year we need to be beating the teams in the top 6 not drawing

A bit of sense being talked about our performance on Sunday Supplement. Even from Neil Custis(!). Martin Samuel being a bellend, as per usual.

I still see striking similarities in the early 90s Fergie sides development and this one. Won an FA Cup, won a Euro trophy, strengthened the side, challenged but fell just short in the league through fixture pile-up and injuries. Leaving aside style of football (which until yesterday no one had much of a problem with bar the 2nd half of Soton), the thing that got that side over the line finally was Cantona, because of his mentality, arrogance, call it what you will, but mostly his ability to turn a game with a piece of magic. I said it yesterday and I think it becomes clearer in the big games- we still need that final piece.
